Quite Possibly the Worst Phone Ever!

Date of Review: Mar 3, 2008

The Bottom Line:  I would not recommend this phone to anyone except my worst enemy!
I purchased this phone for my elderly parents so they could have the ease of multiple extensions throughout the house (they only have one cordless now held together with duct tape!) but they did not want to change their telephone setup (stored numbers, new answering machine, etc) so gave the phone back to me to either keep or return to the store. Realizing that the store's return policy timeframe had elapsed, I decided to keep the phone, and BOY OH BOY am I glad I didn't curse my parents with it! There was a disclaimer on the box that analog phone extensions couldn't be used at the same time, or something to that effect, but it wasn't clear to me what that meant until I began using the phone. Imagine relaxing on the couch when a call comes in for your spouse who is in another part of the house, your spouse can't just pick up the handy extension nearby, Nooooo...he/she must come get the extension that YOU answered as no extension may be in use simultaneously with another. The voice quality of the phone was very poor and I had many complaints of being unable to hear what I was saying because of the static and noise. Anytime I talked to my parents, they were so very glad they didn't keep the phone as even their duct taped dinosaur cordless sounds better! The other unusual problem that arose was that the phone would not disconnect despite pressing the off button repeatedly. I tried different strategies according to V-Tech's website troubleshooting section to get the phone to disconnect but it seemed to have a mind of its own!
