Pros: Sportiness, great acceleration & handling, excellent brakes, trunk space, airbags galore.
Cons: Prone to rattling noises. Annoyingly-placed cupholders. Dash buttons need to be pressed hard.
The Bottom Line: Cars mainly exist to drive, to sit in, to use the backseats of, and to overheat our choking planet. The GTI's strengths are the first three. Yay!
Review: (Although the writing on this essay is mine, the experience and enthusiasm are those of my wife C ...

Pros: Good performance, looks and feel.
Cons: Reliability has been spotty in the past
The Bottom Line: A nice car for a 19-yr old who wants a feel for speed, but is grounded to the road by speed limits.
Review: My brother has recently acquired a 2003 VW GTI GLS. This model provides very spiffy acceleration, good interior space and layout, and good looks; all for a reasonable price. And with a little research, one can get the GTI for just $400 over invoice.

Pros: safety, acceleration, looks, turbo
Cons: Cheap interior parts, 2 wheel drive
The Bottom Line: Great first car and fun car to drive because the GTI definitely delivers and you won't be disappointed if you choose this car
Review: The 2003 VW GTI was my first car and I still own and drive it to this day. I'll start with the pros of this car. Pros: Above everything, this car is one of the safest cars I have been in. I have experienced two accidents in this car. One accident ...

Pros: Fun, quick, flexible space, great ergonomics, price, features ideal for daily driver! It's hip.
Cons: Ho-hum gas mileage. Wrangling with dealer to fix a $60 paint peel on grill insert.
The Bottom Line: More fun than I expected. Worth a look if you are checking out any similar vehicles.
Review: Update: one month, and 4,000 miles now. Still enjoying this car. Peaked at 30.1 MPG on a mostly highway road trip (overall average). I look for reasons to drive it, and it seems to respond best to (perhaps even encourage) spirited driving. I have let ...

Pros: Peppy, fun to drive, great interior design
Cons: Misc electrical issues, mileage not as good if you use turbo a lot.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a sporty european car that is versatile and fun while still semi-practical, definitely consider the VW GTI.
Review: I purchased my 2003 VW GTI in November of 2003, and as of 3/8/05 I have put approximately 32,000 miles on it. Let me tell you, this car has been great to me. I have the 1.8T, Silverstone Gray (fairly rare color), black seats, luxury package (moonroof, ...

Pros: Quickness, Finish, Options, Great "Roadtrip" car
Cons: Cup Holder, Seat Belts
The Bottom Line: Of the cars in this sector only the Subaru WRX will out-perform the GTI. However, when you take into account the overall package, this is the way to go.
Review: I bought my 2003 GTI 1.8T in January, 2003. I have held off writing a review until I had some miles ...

Pros: Excellent performance & quality of materials. Good value.
Cons: ESP cuts in prematurely.
The Bottom Line: I would definitely consider this car as a sub for BMW's 3 series coupes, any Japanese coupes, or Mercedes C class.
Review: I bought this car in late October of 2002. It is a 2003 VW GTI VR6, silver w/ black cloth, 6 spd ...

Pros: I Love everything about my little Silver GTI, and would not trade it.
Cons: Drivers window fell off it's track while I was pulled over, ooops
The Bottom Line: Go Ahead, drive the rest than drive the best. You will not be disappointed at all. Once you sit down in one you will know!
Review: I purchased my 2003 GTI new in May 2003. Since then I now have 40,000 miles as of November 27 2005. My car is Silverstone Gray with Gray leather interior with every Option package. This car pleads to be driven. I am updating my review to first ...

Pros: A great car for the money. This car has exceeded my expectations.
Cons: If it only had independent rear suspension. Comes equipped with substandard tires.
Review: This car has been flawless. With 30,000 miles on it, it's never been back to the dealer for any repairs. Other than oil changes, new tires - Michelin PE2 (the Continentals it came with sucked)and 2 headlamps Acceleration is there when you need it with ...
