2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Date of Review:  Oct 24, 2006
The Bottom Line: This car looks nice and drives nice, until it has a problem, which have been happening atleast once a year since we bought it.
Review: In the beginning of 2003 my husband wanted to replace his old VW Quantum. He'd had some VW Bugs previously and wanted to get another Volkswagen, so we headed to our local dealer and ended up buying a 2002 Jetta.

We were lucky, the car we...

VW Jetta TDi: Can Black Smoke be Green?

Date of Review:  Jul 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: The Jetta TDi offers an extremely robust, well-rounded package, and the new 4-year bumper-to-bumper warranty is an added bonus.
Review: Fuel Economy. Two words can sum up the direction that all automakers are heading these days. While sales of gas-hungry SUV's begin to slip, new technologies are hitting the market promising greater fuel economy, which means lower emissions. Hybrid...

2002 Volkswagen Jetta: Better than a Passat? How much do you need a rear seat?

Date of Review:  Jan 5, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you are attracted to the Jetta?s styling, interior ambiance, and German character, and do not require an adult-sized rear seat or reliability, then this is the car for you.
Review: My sister finally bought a Jetta, and I m finally reviewing the car. She didn t start out looking at the Jetta. She started out really wanting a VW Passat. (Click on the blue hyperlinks to read my reviews of related vehicles.) This was about two...

'02 TDI best yet

Date of Review:  Dec 5, 2002
The Bottom Line: Drive at least 50,000 km (31,000 miles) per year? The added cost of the diesel is offset by the increased fuel efficiency and lower fuel costs.
Review: This is my third Jetta TDI in the last 5 years. I put an average of 80,500 km (50,000 miles) per year and find a ready resale market for them.

The latest version has a better feel to the controls; especially the linkage of the manual...

UPDATE: 200-hp 24V Jetta GLX

Date of Review:  Jan 29, 2002
The Bottom Line: You cannot find a better combination of power, quality, and technology for the money in this market segment.
Review: Note: This is an update to my original review of the current generation Jetta which was introduced in the U.S. for the 1999 model year and has remained relatively unchanged since. Please read my original review here:...

Volkswagen: NEVER AGAIN

Date of Review:  Aug 27, 2005
The Bottom Line: You might want to consider other manufacturers if you are looking more for durability and reliability. The Jetta is definitely not up to its price tag
Review: Updated: 17-09-2005

I purchased my Volkswagen Jetta GLS 2002 in February of 2005, and without any doubt I believe that it has been the worst purchase of my life. There are many reasons why I wished to abandon this vehicle, some much more...

I wouldn't sell this car if you paid me $1 mil

Date of Review:  Feb 12, 2002
The Bottom Line: Buy this car. Get the 1.8T version if power is an issue. It still gets great gas mileage and I can smoke all rice rockets!
Review: Prior to the September 11th tragedies, I was in the market for a car. I have driven anything you can think of, and have owned Fords, Volvos, etc. My crappy 96 Mustang Cobra, although stylish and neck snapping fast, had finally crapped out on me. The...

Biggest mistake of my life so far...

Date of Review:  Apr 8, 2003
The Bottom Line: It's too bad there aren't more diesel cars on the market because the diesel engine is great technology. The package around the engine... Plagued with problems.
Review: I purchased a 2002 VW Jetta Wagon TDI. The first problem, which I was told could not be fixed, was the tremendous wind buffeting noise that occurs when the windows are down. I am constantly having to adjust the windows (sunroof, front, and rear) at...

2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Date of Review:  Jul 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you like the sporty look with lots of power and excellent handling, this car is for you. Beware reliability headaches.
Review: While most Jetta 2002 models can be found almost everywhere you look on the road, the Jetta GLI makes notably fewer appearances on the road due to its relatively limited production. This car is intended for VW lovers and auto enthusiasts. It...

Jump on the Jetta Bandwagon

Date of Review:  Jan 13, 2002
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for anyone looking for a wagon. It costs more than others in its class, but you get more features, plus a drive that's unquestionably German.
Review: If you don't want to spend money on a new car, then don't test drive the new Jetta Wagon. Especially not the 1.8-liter turbo engine. I can assure you that you won't walk out of the dealership without it. Although it costs a bit more than other...
