Author's Review
I recently bought a 2002 Cabrio (June 2007) and so far I love this car! It is fun to drive, economical, and a good looking 'rarish' car.
I especially like that it can turn on a dime. As someone who likes to explore alternative routes (who would call it 'getting lost' when you are enjoying the top-down scenery?) I often need to make tight turn-arounds - something very easy to do in this car...which was not at all so in my previous car, a 1999 Sebring convertible. That had the turning radius of a truck.
The seats are great - having ridden in my boyfriend's Jetta TDI with heated seats, I know I can brave the east central Indiana winters in comfort this year. The leather seats are nice & supportive, and the height adjustments are wonderful - I can choose to sit high for sight-seeing, or down low for cool cruising.
The back seat is surprisingly roomy for a small car, and two adults can ride comfortably on even longer trips. This was something not possible in a previous (larger) convertible - a 1995 Mustang GT.
The 'roll-bar' gives an extra feeling of safety, helps the windows fit snugly (something most other convertibles lack), plus looks sporty.
The dash lighting is vivid, yet easy on the eyes. Visually stunning and different, it draws frequent compliments from passengers.
The stereo is excellent on so many levels: sound quality even with the top down, and also that the multi-disc player is in the trunk for extra security. I keep my CDs safely in there, too, and it is easy to change them around before a trip.
The only drawbacks are: it is not a powerhouse. But, it makes up for that by being easy on the fuel consumption - more smiles to the gallon! The 2 cupholders can hold pretty much only cans - too small & short (being tucked too far under the dash) for any fast-food cups. It also has a small trunk, but it is a small car, so that typically comes with territory.
