Don't waste your money

I was very disappointed with the Vivitar 8300s. It seemed like a good product & value after doing the research, but this camera is not a great investment. The pictures are very grainy unless you are in just the right light. Low light and bright outdoor pictures are very poor. There are several seconds of lag time between pushing the button and the picture actually taking, so unless you are taking pictures of inanimate objects or posed people, the subject has usually moved by the time the picture actually takes and you miss the shot.

The battery life is very short, and it is next to impossible to find a replacement battery, I have not found a single store that sells them, not even the store we bought the camera from, or even online. The only way I know of is to call Vivitar's customer service and order one directly from them.

In this camera's weak defense, I will say that the features are fairly easy to use, and there is a nice big screen display and for such a small camera I think the zoom is pretty decent. However, these do not make up for the poor quality and if I had it to do over I would shell out a little extra and buy a better camera.
