Simply an amazing machine

My new vita mix joined the rest of my appliance family early this month. I researched this purchase for over six months. I started asking on cooking message boards and health related message boards for advice in purchasing a blender.

It all started that fateful day I dropped my glass container for my oster and broker my 6th container. I started fantasizing about a new purchase. What would I want in a new blender? I wrote down all that I thought I would find helpful and started narrowing my choices down from there.

I spoke to people who ran coffee houses which served frothy coffee drinks and got many opinions about why, how, and where to purchase a vita mix. My next step was a restaurant supply warehouse. I went in and checked out THE DRINK MACHINE and the PROFESSIONAL VITA MIX. What I really was looking for was a combination of both. THE DRINK MACHINE uses an ice blade which is what makes those delicious frothy, icey drinks called frappe’s or freezes. The consistency of a drink made in this machine is like ice cream.

I wanted to be able to replicate these drinks but also to have a wide rage of blending abilities. I looked through the users guide on the PROFESSIONAL VITA MIX and saw that it even could make hot soup!!! Depending on the type container chosen it can even grind grains and coffee grounds. I mulled over my decision forever wondering how I could combine the capabilities of both machines. I placed numerous calls to VITA MIX people around the globe and finally found my answer through a very nice gentlemen in Sarasota. He informed me that I could purchase a DRINK MACHINE ice blade container and use it on my PROFESSIONAL VITA MIX . This gave me the capabilities of both machines combined for an additional $100. purchase of the ice blade container. I only hesitated a day before deciding the additional $100.00 was worth it and made my purchase. They direct shipped to my house and within a week I was a blending fool.

THE CONTAINERS
I chose a wet blade container and ice blade container. In the future I may also purchase a dry blade container which is the one that grinds. It will grind garbanzo beans into a powder you can use as flour which I’m anxious to try as well as the other grain recipes.
The containers come in glass or polycarbonate plastic. I chose the plastic due to my history of finger fumbles with the glass. The glass containers are heavy and cumbersome for me to use one handed though for other people this is not a problem at all.

DETAILS
This is a very basic machine without a lot of extra features. The motor and specialty blades is what sets this blender above the rest. The machine has a high and low button, a dial with numbers from 1-10 which you can regulate the speed of high and low, and a simple on and off switch. The top of the container closes it air tight so it takes some work to remove it. The individual containers look identical except for the blades. The ice blade has squared off tips and the wet blade has pointy tips. Use caution as the blades are very sharp.

Whether you buy the professional line of VITA MIX BLENDERS or the retail line you will be thrilled. The prices are very much the same. The motors are almost identical. They come with a recipe book and instruction and maintenance manual. From what I understand you get better recipes when you purchase through the retailer for home use. The recipe book was a great surprise. It includes a lot of nutritious formulas and cooking ideas. I have a friend who throws in some tomatoes, spices, and a bit of soy milk and makes a delicious creamed tomato soup in minutes. The soup is heated by the friction of the motor. She serves this is her lunch café and it is one of the easiest menu items to throw together. Best of all it uses fresh ingredients and because it’s so easy to make it is always made fresh for her customers.

I use my PROFESSIONAL VITA MIX every day. In the morning I blend Power soy drinks or coffee flavored frappe’s with ice and light milk and a shot of espresso. I blend ingredients for soup or sauces for supper regularly also. I love this machine. It is like having a personal assistant in the kitchen. It is so easy to clean and maintain. I made a special place for it in my pantry which was quite a chore finding room, but later found I use it so much it has a place of honor on my counter.

CONCLUSION
This is bar far the best kitchen appliance I have ever owned. It is a blender and so much more. Though it is expensive it has proved to me that it was worth every penny. I love this machine…need I say more?
Thanks for reading.
