Playing Virtua Fighter 4: Priceless (The Great Sequel Write-Off)

by   Gthomp1 ,  Aug 16, 2002
Pros: Kumite Mode, Replay value, Ranking system
Cons: Jagged Lines in graphics, certain button configurations uncomfortable
The Bottom Line: If you only own one fighting game this year, make it Virtua Fighter 4.
Review: Virtua Fighter has not had any respect for quite some time. Although VF1 revolutionized 3-D polygon fighting action, you mostly had to play it at the arcade to truly get the proper experience. VF2 used some of the similar concepts as the first one, but...

Virtua Fighter 4: SEGA Lovin' and Beyond

by   Rock_On , top reviewer in Games at Epinions.com ,  Apr 14, 2002
Pros: it's SEGA, awesome fighting system, awesome everything
Cons: some may be turned away by it's tough battle system
The Bottom Line: Why don't they have the Graphics, Control, Sound, or Learning Curve in the Review Details?
Review: After originally having SEGA’s latest game in the Virtua Fighter series, Virtua Fighter 4 on pre-order at Best Buy, and then not having the rest of the money to get it... I decided to scrounge up some quarters, nickels, and dimes to get it...

Sega's Virtua Masterpiece, Number 4

by   gorocco ,  Apr 1, 2002
Pros: Deep gameplay, much variety in fighting styles, incredible graphics and sound
Cons: Limited play modes, difficulty
The Bottom Line: The must have fighting game for your PS2!
Review: Finally... Virtua Fighter has come to the Playstation 2!

The Virtua Fighter series has always emphasized technique and skill versus obscene 10+ hit combos while pushing the envelope on graphical and audio presentation. And for fighting...

The Best Fighting Game, Ever.

by   JFrink26 ,  Jul 13, 2002
Pros: Deep fighting system.
Cons: Sound.
The Bottom Line: This is the fighting game for serious fighting game fans. Sega has constructing the most complex fighting game of all time.
Review: If you’re like me, then you’ve probably seen Sega’s Virtua Fighter series develop from its first incarnation as blocky polygon, 3-D fighter to a fluid and beautiful arcade masterpiece. More recent fans of the series are no doubt discovering its charms as...

What? PAL 60 ! Sega Be Praised!

by   styar ,  May 13, 2002
Pros: PAL 60Hz Option. Tons of replayability. Deep gameplay. Heaps of modes/options.
Cons: Aliasing (Jaggies).
The Bottom Line: An excellent PAL conversion of a mature and deep fighting game. Plenty of replayability thanks to the Kumite mode and extras.
Review: Noteworthy Features:
- Train your own fighters using the AI Data.
- Kumite Mode, where you fight wave after wave to earn
ranks and special items.

Graphics:
Graphics are very good (though not on par with DOA 3)and...

Yu Suzuki is at it Again!

by   sweetsakura ,  Nov 26, 2002
Pros: Just about everything. This series is truly known for it's in-depth fighting.
Cons: None thus far
The Bottom Line: Prepare yourself for the most complex 3-d fighter of all time. This is truly a 3-D chess game.
Review: I can play this game for 45 minutes straight. And considering my attention span is extremely short, (I write reviews in little parts!) this is pretty darn good. The main reason I believe it keeps my attention is because it does have such an in depth...

Soul Calibur who?

by   snoogans86 ,  Sep 6, 2002
Pros: Great graphics, in-depth fighting system.
Cons: Major jaggies, perhaps a bit too intimidating.
The Bottom Line: This is arguably the greatest fighting game ever, and it's only on PS2.
Review: Intro:
Once upon a time there was a little fighting game that changed the genre forever. It debuted on Sega’s Model I Arcade Board and proceeded to blow everyone’s minds away. It was the first fighting game to be based on real martial arts styles...

by   kumite ,  Apr 22, 2002
Pros: Gameplay, graphics.
Cons: Extremely demanding.
The Bottom Line: Try this game, put some time into really getting good at it, and the resulting experience will blow you away.
Review: Alright, let's start with the basics:

Storyline: Well, there's this tournament you see, and this guy needs to.. oh nevermind.. there's 13 fighters (11 from the previous games in the series, plus 2 new ones), pick one and beat up everyone else....

by   hearseman ,  May 6, 2002
Pros: Good graphics
Cons: limited fighters, repetivitve audio, only 2 players
The Bottom Line: I always suggest renting games prior to purchse. I liked it but you may not.
Review: My 15 year old cousin was spending the night (I'm 25 by the way), so I rented Virtua Fighter 4 on PS2 this weekend. It is a fairly new release and so we gave it a try.

From previous experience, we check to see if the game is produced on a...
