Viking Dbl Oven - Opinion

Oven is easy to use with simple dial ctrls. If you do not like buttons or digitial - this is the oven for you. The convection feature is avaialble on all cycles - bake, broil, etc.

However, the build quality is lacking and the design is dated. Not to mention the price is premium.

1-1/2 years after my oven was installed - the Broiler relay board -the entire thing - failed - went up in flames!! popped the breaker - oven pannel belched smoke and flames - I got out the fire extinguisher....

Called Altex Parker repair- great service, excellent technicians - Bottom line it cost me $600 to repair the oven. The design (unlike many new models) does not allow top pannel access with out pulling the entire oven out (de-install).

I did call Viking customer service to complain. They did not care - kept saying call your distributor - not our problem - I kept saying you made the product that almost burned my house down! I have to add poor customer service to the list.

On the positive side - the oven "looks good", cooks evenly, and heats up quickly. Convection is a great feature if you are in to bread, fast cooking of roasts or any other bake need.

If you want lots of features and buttons go Thermadore...if you want twist the dial and set the temp - go viking.

I will add that rumor is that Viking is being purchased by Fridgidair. I have a Viking kitchen - Dish washer is great (made by Asko for Viking), range top is great...Oven - o well!
