Stay Away From Viking

by   peabody4200 ,  Apr 5, 2005
Pros: looks impressive
Cons: breaks down, zero after sale service, expensive
The Bottom Line: Find another Range. Don't buy a Viking
Review: am frustrated! My husband and I bought, what we thought was, our dream Range from Viking. It is a duel fuel, double electric oven, 4 gas burners, griddle and grill. The works! If you put wheels on this baby, you should be able to drive it for the ...

BAD BAD BAD

by   falstaff55 ,  Jan 30, 2004
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Terrible and costly repair record; Uneven baking; Griddle flaking; Hard to clean.
The Bottom Line: Avoid Viking range. You'll be sorry.
Review: We purchased this range in 1998 for around $7000. I thought that we just ended up with an unfortunate, expensive lemon. But after reading another review here and Viking's unfavorable reliability rating in Consumer Reports, it seems that we are not the ...

Gas? No Way. I'm Going Back To GLASS...

by   karenfan ,  May 13, 2008
Pros: Looks Nice...
Cons: Does Everything But Cook. Multiple Failures. Bad Components. Non-Existant Customer Service.
The Bottom Line: Not recommended at all. If you never cook and strictly want a "showroom" kitchen, then go ahead and buy this $6000 lemon.
Review: I purchased this unit after remodelling our kitchen and wanting that "professional" look. I thought I was getting something that was on par with restaurant quality ranges, something that delivered delicious meals, unmatched performance and outstanding ...

Avoid Viking (in spite of its good looks)

by   frwebb ,  Apr 29, 2008
Pros: Beautiful looks, very hot flame on burners
Cons: Can't accurately control oven temp, no real simmer, no customer support.
The Bottom Line: DO NOT buy a Viking range! They're beautiful but defective - oven controls are inaccurate and burners are too hot for simmering. Cooktop hard to clean too.
Review: We spent almost ten grand to buy our dream range - a 48" Viking with six burners, two ovens, and a grill. We didn't realize it was a clue when the stove arrived with a knob missing. Soon we discovered that the oven controls are defective (both ovens) ...

Don't buy this oven !

by   ericthornton ,  Dec 15, 2003
Pros: When it's not broken, the convection oven cooks very well
Cons: It breaks all the time
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this range
Review: Don't even think of buying one of these. We rebuilt our house in 1999 and installed a Viking 48" dual fuel range. We went to the distributor that had a very fancy presentation set up - complete with free cooking classes - and we felt really good ...

HORRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY

by   conrneleous ,  Nov 20, 2004
Pros: ONLY LOOKS GOOD!
Cons: EVERYTHING ON IT IS BAD!
The Bottom Line: Buy a $500 range; at least it won't be such a disappointment when it fails!
Review: I purchased the all LP version of this range first. In spite of at least a dozen visits from the appliance repairman, they could not get the LP conversion to stop back firing so bad that the doors would nearly blow open when this would happen every time ...

Viking Corporation Should be Ashamed of themselves!!!!!

by   grannybaker ,  Dec 27, 2005
Pros: Good oven heat distribution when door functions properly. Burners are well made.
Cons: Non-existent customer service.
Review: I bought the 48" Duel Fuel Viking Range and loved every aspect of the range until we needed service. Considering the mega bucks that you spend to purchase this PRO range, you get absolutely no service, and in many cases have to search to find a ...
