Defective Pixels

As an owner of a Viewsonic VG 150 flat panel monitor and four Viewsonic CRT type monitors, I thought that Viewsonic could do no wrong. Boy was I wrong! I recently bought a Viewsonic VE 150 monitor mail order. As soon as I booted I knew I was in trouble. Almost dead center in the middle of the screen was a glowing white pixel that looked like the star over the Manger at Christmas. Since one of the main uses of this monitor was to watch movies on DVD, the monitor was unuseable. Never have I seen a defective pixel like this one on LCD monitors or on notebook computers. After reading the Warranty and not seeing anything about defective pixels I called Viewsonic Customer Support. After waiting in queue for 15 minutes the Customer Service Representative transferred me to a Tech Support Representative who proudly told me that 5 bright pixels on a 15 inch screen are considered acceptable. I asked where in the warranty was this stated. He said it was on their homepage. After searching their homepage I finally found it under Q and A's - not under Warranty. According to these Q &A's, 5 bright or 5 black defective pixels (or a total of 8 mixed) are acceptable. Acceptable to whom is not given! He suggested that I return it to the dealer for any other reason except defective. This is probably my last purchase of a Viewsonic monitor.
