If You Prefer A Monitor.....This Is The One!!

There are different schools of thought as to whether one should use a traditional monitor or go with the new flat panel type. This question will soon be resolved as flat panels become more perfected and their prices drop. I suspect that at some point in time in the future, traditional monitors will no longer be made and the only choice will be flat panel. But for now, my personal preference is still the traditional monitor.

Flat panels (LCDs) take up less room on your desktop and they use less electricity to run. They also look really cool compared to the bulky old fashioned monitors we're all used to. But that's as far as it goes for the pros of flat panels. Traditional monitors (if you get the right one)still produce the best pictures and colors and they can be viewed from any angle without fading or distortion.

I bought the ViewSonic Graphic Series G90fb 19" when I recently replaced my old computer with a new Dell 8100 and I could not be happier with my choice. I read many reviews of monitors before deciding on the ViewSonic. Nearly 100 per cent of the reviews, both from users and from professionals, were positive about this model. After using mine for about 2 months now, I can honestly state that those reviewers were absolutely correct..... this monitor is the finest I have ever seen.

The setup was a breeze and the software is a snap to use to fine tune it. The colors are sharp and true. The screen is nearly flat and without looking real close at the corners, you can't tell that it is not a true flat screen.
The graphics and text show clear and sharp. The front buttons for rough adjustments are convenient and easy to use. The swivel stand works adequately for positioning up & down and side to side. Some reviewers claimed that this monitor is very large, but I find it no bulkier than any other monitor I have owned. In my case, I was not looking to save space on my desk, so the advantage of space saving flat panels did not interest me.

I paid $230. including shipping through NewEgg and it was shipped very fast. I received it in 3 days. The only con I can say about this unit is that the swivel stand is a bit difficult to attach to the monitor when setting it up. Unfortunately there are no instructions explaining how to attach this base, so you have to figure it out yourself.

If you are in the market to replace an old monitor, and are not concerned about saving desk space, slightly higher electricity costs or just plain good looks, I would highly recommend that you invest in another monitor and this ViewSonic model is about the best you can get. You'll also spend half the money for this than you would for a comparable quality flat panel LCD.
