Author's Review
I've been using the Viewsonic NX2232w for a few days short of a year now, mainly as a desktop monitor for photo editing. I had to install a newer graphics card (GeoForce 6200) to achieve proper 1680 x 1050 resolution, seeing as my white box running 2000 Pro is only like 7 years old. But I've been running it every day, 6-8 hours a day, with nary a problem.
I use the NX2232w as a TV occasionally, having a DirectTV satellite box, Denon DVD player, and an old Sharp VCR all hooked up to it, along with a pair of Harmon Kardon computer speakers. "The Terminator" sounds pretty wicked bad through them.
Since I don't recieve an HD signal through DirectTV, and I won't get a Blu-ray player (because Blu-ray will be dead in a few years), and the only online HD video I've watched runs like crap on my ancient machine (I usually use my laptop for that), I can only vouch for image quality from what I do in photo editing. My Denon DVD player upcales, but most of my movies are older flicks from like the 40s-50s. I can say that the photos from my Nikons look exceptional as wallpaper.
Included is a pretty standard remote, allowing the switching of input sources (TV, AV, S-video, YPbRr, HDMI, and D-sub); channel/volume; menu (from tweaking the picture and sound, amongst other things), and a bunch of buttons I've never used (and probably never will).
The only thing closest to a gripe I have is the fixed base. There's no tilt or swivel, and it doesn't seem to be the sturdiest I've seen. But, since it's been in the same position for nearly a year, this is a non-issue for me.
I bought this last December because I was tired of getting eyestrain from gooning at a 15" CRT for the past four years. I also wanted somethng I could watch an occasional movie on. I've got limited space; 22" seemed to be a decent size for what I needed. So far, the NX2232w has exceeded my expectations.
