Smooth, So smooth

Ever gone through those piles of CD's, cassettes or even LP's, for you DJ's and enthusiast out there, and wanted something newer than some Smokey Robinson but just as laid back perhaps. This CD definetly fits that bill.

To start, check out the cover, two guys leanin' back and maxxin' on a couch. A simple line drawing in black and white. If this doesn't scream laid back I don't know what else does. So of course I had to find out for myself and dropped it in the CD Player and cranked it up... Big Mistake!!! I repeat do not turn this CD up. Drop the volume and let it ride smoothly in the background. The beats are so smooth so mellow and fluidic throughout the entire disc that you almost ruin it by raising the volume. Of course their are exceptions to every rule and the same applies here. A little volume never hurt on tracks 13 (I See You Baby Remixed by Fatboy Slim) you'll recognize that one from the clubs I'm sure and If Everybody Looked The Same. Both awesome tracks in their own rights.

As for the rest of the album, it is an absolutely immaculate blend of horns, bass, vocals and percussion. It's a great housy blend of elements fused onto a medium for your listening pleasure. Each song further promotes the idea Vertigo or winding or turning down. You can feel the fact that the artist wants you to reach the trance almost sleep like state and focus on every piece of a song and not just bombard you with noises and send you into a chaotic frenzy. Yet at the same time you end up staying just alert enough to desire the coming sounds and not lose too much focus if any.
