Product Review

Veronica Mars

by   bardgirl ,   Jun 15, 2006

Pros:  Great stories and actors.

Cons:  Where's Duncan?

The Bottom Line:  This is an amazing show that just keeps getting better. The secrets were all bombshells and I just love Veronica and Logan.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

Like season one a mystery takes the season to unfold with some surprises along the way. Alyson Hannigan turns up again as Trina who is Logan's big sister. Other faces turn up that are familiar to Buffy fans. Joss Whedon makes his second onscreen appearance although this time you can actually recognize him. His first was as Numfar in the third season of Angel when the gang went to Pylea. Charisma Carpenter shows up throughout the season. Buffy and Angel fans know her. She also guest starred on Baywatch and starred in the short lived Malibu Shore where she was a Cordyesque character.

The big case this season is the bus crash and the truth is mind blowing. This show keeps you guessing. Just when you think you've figured it out a curve ball is thrown at you. This season has regular appearances from Steve Guttenburg who plays Woody Goodman. People will recognize him from the Police Academy movies. His character has quite a secret that causes your jaw to drop.

Two characters that were briefly seen in the first season join the cast as another rich family is introduced. The Cassablancas consist of Richard, Dick, Cassidy and Kendall. Kendall is played by Charisma Carpenter who turned up in season seven of Charmed. She is quite a mystery this one and like many people this season she has a secret too. She is the hot step mom because mother would just be too ridiculous. Don't judge her just because she's beautiful since she's pretty darn smart.

The two sons are Dick and Cassidy who is better known as Beaver. Dick for some bizarre reason is one of Logan's best friends. I can't see it because this guy totally fits his name if you get what I'm saying. He is played by Ryan Hansen and to the best of my knowledge he isn't related to that trio of singing brothers that were rather pretty and also blonde. The little brother is played by Kyle Gallner. He is the kind of guy that you can't help but relate to since he's pretty much non existent. He stuns you in that most awesome season finale.

Keith Mars is played by Enrinco Colantoni and he's starred in Just Shoot Me and I believe Fraiser. He is the great Dad that everyone would love to have. This guy so needs a love life even though it's kinda gross. He's as lovable as always being the best dad for Veroncia. He's like the male version of Joyce Summers when it's comes down to it in a way.

Tessa Thomspon arrives on the show as Jackie Cook whose father Terrence Cook is the main suspect for the tragic bus crash. She is kinda nasty and doesn't give a very good first impression but she grows on you and not in a mold kind of way. Like many others this season she is carrying around a secret. It doesn't seem likely that she'll be back for season three but you never know.

Percy Daggs III who plays the best friend of Veronica is off for a big chunk of the show. I guess he could have been filming something perhaps. Wallace Fennell finds out that his father is actually still alive which causes him to leave Neptune. Thankfully the boy comes back because how can you not love this guy. I guess hope he's back next year since often shows have a way of sticking everyone together at the same college even though they were talking about other schools.

Logan Echolls played by Jason Dohring gets the girl this season. He is as charming as ever and can be a jackass on occasion but that's what makes him loveable. I for one am glad that he ends up with Veronica because I can't help but love this guy even though I didn't at first. Well maybe things will finally start working out for this guy. It certainly doesn't hurt that he has money.
