Product Review

A crying cucumber, a sympathetic gourd and lots of laughs!

by   jenb123 ,   Mar 5, 2000

Pros:  hilarious, original, moral

Cons:  none

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

There are few sights more pitiful than a crying cucumber. Our hero, Larry is drowning his sorrows after an unfortunate episode of Silly Songs With Larry which resulted in Larry’s show being (sob!) replaced!

Jimmy Gourd tries desperately to console our green grieving pal, yet Larry turns down a pushup and even a cup of sprinkles. The sympathetic Jimmy offers an ear (do gourds even have ears?) to the sobbing cucumber and plays a few favorite Veggie Tunes on the jukebox. Even an upbeat Stuffmart Rap with the hilarious “bungee-wungee” lyrics is useless. Larry continues crying. His spot had been replaced by Love Songs With Mr. Lunt who sings about His Cheeseburger, which is a hilarious ode to fast food.

Will it really be the end of silliness?

Should vegetables be eating red meat?

Will Mr. Lunt get his cheeseburger?

Just when it seems there is no hope, Archibald Asparagus enters the diner to inform Larry that Silly Songs was to resume! Yes, the viewers had spoken and demanded that the silliness return. The entire city of Moose Lake was pulling for our pickle, who at last prevails!

This is another fabulous Veggie Tales video filled with favorite songs, lyrics along the bottom of the screen, and the usual witty scenes Veggie fans have come to know and love. Like the entire collection of videos, both my toddler and preschooler loved this video, singing and dancing along. I love watching these excellent programs with them, the combination of humor and morals are so well done. Unique, entertaining and educational, Silly Sing Along 2 is another winner.
