Author's Review
Oh just when Larry, the pickle, thought it was the end of Silly Songs with Larry...
Well I don't want to give it all away. The usual VeggieTales video has a moral lesson in there some where. In "The End of Silliness?" it is more of a sing-a-long tape with the lyrics subtitled at the bottom of the screen. They already had one compilation sing-a-long video, but the geniuses that come up with this stuff have presented this one in an original, albeit unusual, way that allows the different songs to be presented.
Larry is in the dumps about his "Silly Songs with Larry" being canceled until further notice, to be replaced by more "artful" songs. One of the gourds tries to cheer him up by playing some of the silly songs from the video jukebox. In the end Archibald Asparagus sees how wrong he was and lets Larry have his silly songs back. So there is a lesson that we just can't live without silliness.
The songs are cute. My favorite is a love song called "You are my Cheeseburger" My kids have their own favorites.
I only have one other VeggieTales.. George and the Duck... the lesson is about greed. My family is not christian, but i don't mind the use of little bible lessons that can teach ethical values. Just so long as its not heavy-handed, blatant, in your face proselytizing.
This tape doesn't really have that since it's a sing-along tape.
For those who love 3D animation, this is a great sample of the imaginations behind all the VeggieTales videos. The different characters standout, and sometimes the expressions they exhibit is dead on target. They really get these characters right for the stories they tell. I've tried to do some 3D animation in my previous employment, so i love to watch 3D animation for animation's sake.
I hope to get more of these tapes for both my kids enjoyment and my own.
