Serve up some more veggies!

I had heard a lot about these Veggie thingies and wasn't really interested. Unfortunately, any Christian videos I had watched were pretty poor quality and really trite.

My mom purchased this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter to watch at her house. After the first visit with that video, I had promise my mother that even though I was taking it home with me, I would return it!

Both of my girls, including the one year old, absolutely love this video. Since viewing this one, we have purchased two more, some toys, and even had a Veggie Tale themed 1st birthday party!

Dave and the Giant Pickle is a cartoon version of the Biblical story of David and Goliath. But in this version, Dave is a sheep herding asparagus. But his sheep are different, they fall over constantly, and he has to set them right although he is barely tall enough to see over their backs. He has many older brother of the squash an dgourd variety who think he is pretty useless other than as the butt of their jokes and focus of their harassment.

When The Giant Pickle comes to town and no one is willing to fight, David goes to the King and asks to fight. After being told he is too small, he sings his retort, "Little Guys Can do Big Things Too." An absolutely adorable song. As the old story goes, Dave does battle Goliath and with one stone sends the giant tumbling. As the video finishes we get a recap from our hosts, Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber.

I cannot say enough about this video. There is a great story with essentially two morals. First that little guys can do big things especially if second they have God's help.

The tunes are catchy and the kids enjoy the bright colors and catchy tunes. My one year old brings me her Veggie Tale bathtub toy and sings da-da-da-da-da-da as she bounces up and down until I sing the theme song for her. The 2 1/2 year old even knows all of the words.

And the icing on the cake... my oldest is now eating her vegetables and even asks for more! Who would have thunk it? A video that teaches and gets the kids to eat too!
