Author's Review
Ok, I have to first admit that I haven't tried using the eSata connection, as I am mostly using a laptop right now, so, my review will exclude that part.
Installation of this drive is pretty easy, as I have dealt with similar enclosures before (basically Bytecc ones that have similar build) - so four generic crosshead-screws inside and two thin and long screws outside. If you want you can use the screws that come with the hard disk, or the ones provided with the enclosure. Both are ok. So, taking out the drive and putting the drive again is not problematic. My only concern is the thin outside screws (if you are not careful with them, you may easily damage the heads, so use the proper screwdriver and don't force non-matching ones on those).
This is a fanless but aluminum-cased enclosure. Because of its design, it doesn't run very hot inside, as the aluminum-based outer layer dissipates the heat efficiently. And, of course, no fan in addition to its design results in quiet operation.
It has a nice-looking design with the attractive blue color (you can also get the red and black colored versions). I love the way you can use the drive. It is small, you can use it horizontally or vertically depending on its location. Even though it comes with an additional stand-support, you don't have to use it, as its design allows it to be used vertically without the need of the stand. It has a really sturdy structure: even though this makes the enclosure heavy, I don't mind it as it protects the drive successfully. Another good part of the enclosure is you can stack many of these together for efficient storage.
Its power adapter is used by many different types of enclosures made by many different companies. So, if you have many of those, one adapter is enough for your needs. And the latest versions come with a pretty handy and nicely-designed adapter (the older adapter was occupying a lot more space than the most recent version).
Regarding its performance, I have bought a few of these enclosures so far since last year, and none had any problems - be it installation and operation. No errors so far (for USB 2.0 based use). Additionally, disconnecting the drive means enclosure turning of the drive.
