Product Review

omg - its not wearing out!!! :)

by   kinga73001 ,   Jan 31, 2008

Pros:  stability, durability, flexibility, price

Cons:  teh two bars in the basket only, but can live even with that

The Bottom Line:  I would recomend it to anyone who runs daily errands with two kids on foot.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I wrote a few reviews already, and so far, I really only got so excited about one other product.

I would like to start by saying that I have used this stroller everyday, for about a year and a half, so this review as with others from me, will come with some mileage of use. Not just the excitement of a new purchase.
I bought this stroller after trying and ICOO Platon Duo (not available in North America), the Jane Powertwin and the Stroll Air Duo NV. I have at first wanted a stroller that would allow me to see the new baby and have the toddler facing out, but that proved not as neccessary when it came to forgoing the quality and the stroller to be able to whitstand daily, HEAVY use.
I know that you can buy a car seat adaptor if that is necessary. You can purchase an additional toddler seat, so this can be a stroller for 3 kids, and also a toddler bard to attach in the back, which makes if sufficient for 4 kids. I had a few times a child ride on top to the stroller sittring on the canopies and it's frame, and was comfortable for me to push and safe enough for a tired 4 year old. I'm not sure if the bassinet fit's on it though - so this you may want to check with your local store.

I have used this stroller in every terrain possible, I believe that when you spend a lot of money on something, it should at least live up to it's price tag. The stroller performs exceptionaly on rough grass/tree roots, hills, overturned soil, stones, hard sand, deep snow, sidewalks, and most important to me - it is only 29" wide - so a lot narrower than Mountain Buggy, Stroll Air, Baby Jogger and similar, what this means is that you can open the door to your favourite coffee shop with one hand, and push the stroller through with the other, and we all know what a cup of Java is to a sleep deprived mother, :). Now, with the width so narrow it is just natural to assume that the seats must be narrower too. Well, no, they are not, my 3.5 year old is 40 inches tall and weighs about 32 lbs, and fits in it easily with a full snowsuit and a sleeping bag in it no problem, as well as my 1 year old who is about 26 tall and 24 lbs. So the width and the lenght/height of the seats allow for a large child to fit comfortably. The 5 point harness system is such that it is adjustable all around including the height of the shoulder straps to 3 positions, comes with shoulder pads for comfort, similar to that of a car seat. The buckle itself is a "tricky mechanism" that will never come undone when not called for it. It really is child proof, to undo it, you must squeeze the top and bottom of the mechanism simultaneously and than press the release button. I have not seen one so safe. The straps themselve are textured, so they do not "self adjust" unnecessarily, which is important when your toddler is superintelligent with Houdini qualities. They can be easily adjusted by an adult to the perfect fit for the baby or a bigger child. The head huggers are very comfortable and stay in place. The backrest of the seats are raised and lowered by pulling two straps joined together and releasing the button. There is no limit to the position of the back rest, it is fully customizable to the babies needs, it goes from fully horizontal to fully upright. The seat base itself is angled slightly so the the kids sort of recline in a slightly, which is really comfortable. The canopies can be fully removed if needed.

The canopies are 3 part, reinforced with a peek-a-boo mesh and additional, flipable sun visor. I have piled countles groceries on top of the open canopies, and they have yet to collapse. Additionally, because of the height of the seat back rest, it is quite high, so some people may think that it's not and adequate sun protection, but it actually is quite sufficient. The hoods do stay in place, open or closed. The ribs of the hoods are constructed in such a way, that the little fingers will not get cought, because there is sufficient space between the ribs when the canopies are folded.
There are two deep and wide pocket/bags on the back of the back rests, that can be removed to by a zipper to expose a mesh vent for hot days, this provides extra ventilation in hot weater, and it's one thing to stay out of the burning sun and another overheating - this solves the problem beautifully. The two pouches have straps and hooks that can be attached to other parts of the stroller for extra storage or even your own waist belt. They closure on these is a full zipper. Very, very handy.

If you need extra protection on high UV index days, the stroller comes with it's own fitted sun veil, that really shades and protects the fragile skin. I have not had my kids with sun burn, even on the most dangerous days. It works very well, is fastened by snaps to the frame, fold very small and you can store it in one of the side pockets of the storage basket. It works very well as an insect protection.

The rain cover covers all of the stroller the front and the back, I used the stroller in very heavy downpours, snowstorms and very cold days, it protects the kids very well, and creates a cosy barrier from winter winds and keeps the temperature raised inside during very cold days. It works very, very good as a protection from all of the elements. It fastens to the stroller by velcro (onto it's own sides, the back part is sliped under the handle bar and all around the body of the stroller, even your groceries will not get wet, because it hangs low enough, but it's never in the way. The front of the rain cover slips just under the footplate, it's elasticized so it stays in place.

The childs front bar is removeable and angle/height adjustable - this allows for extra comfort for little toddler hands that need to hold on to something, it's just the childs security. Also it will prevent the child from getting squashed if someone accidently falls on the stroller. The bar is padded and has a removable cover for easy wash.

The foot plate is metal, scratch resistant, and super easy to clean.

The handlebar is adjustable, and thanks to the bar in the middle of it, you can put a parent organizer from Jolly Jumper that fastens by velcro. The handle is covered in durable, hard rubber, not foam, so it does not absorb dirt and sweat and does not slide. I have attached a Valco cup holder to the rubber part, and has not slid one time yet in over a 1.5 year.

The very large basket has a reinforced bottom, has 1 medium pocket on each side, which are big enough to hold 4 500ml water bottles. The only downfall is that the stroller has two bars that are part of the frame inside the basket, one in the bottom and one in the middle, this actually is annoying, since to put anything in the back of the basket you must wiggle it in. Now with that said, you will have no problems putting large shopping bags in it, and will hold about 8 shopping bags filled.

The wheels are super tough, and I have not had a flat yet, even though I do use the stroller on any terrain. I do fill it with air about every 4-5 months. The stroller comes equiped with a pump that stores itself in a pouch onder one of the seats - you will always have it with you, when you need it. The back wheels are push button-quick release. The front ones are released by a lever and bolt, and attached to the stroller by an arm. There is a 3 way setting for each wheels that has not been activated yet by my toddler. The mechanism needs to be pushed and turned simultaneously. The three settings are fixed for soft terrain or very rough, 45* turn for bumpy grass, and 360* swivel.

The back of the frame is on a very bouncy suspension.
The stroller is super sturdy and save and will not tip to any side.

The fabric used for the stroller is tough, the seats are lined with additional foam for comfort and the colors do not show dirt and grime, in any color combination you choose. I have the Sunrise Navy (navy & orange). The fabric is a very good quality, dense thread count, and does not snag or tear, unless I guess you slice it with a something sharp.
I have washed it a couple of times, and actually dried it on semi-warm and came out like new, withough shrinkage. I washed it on warm. So far there is not fading from sun or rain. I store my stroller on the roofed porch so it's exposed constantly to Canadas extreme winter, downpours, and extremely hot, bright and humid summer.

The folding of the stroller works in a way that you flip two safety latches out, fold the top part of the frame towards the front wheels and with both hands pull up on the sides of the basket in the middle where the joints are. It should fold like a book with the front wheels being the middle, and the handle and the back wheels the outside.

Over all the stroller shows very little wear, if any. I am very pleased with it, and can not find anything better. The only thing I would change on it is the two bars inside the basket, but it is not something that would deffer me from purchasing it again.

I highly recomned it to anyone who will use it every day. Now with that said, if you plan on using it as your car stroller than I do not recommend any all terrain, from any company for that. This is a trully walking and 2-3 times per week running stroller. This stroller has teh exact qualities that make is stand out from the regular every day all terrain joggers: manouverability, deep tall seats, durability, stability, easy of cleaning, comfort for parent and child, flexibility, with a competitive price.
