The ULTIMATE iPod Killer? The Sony VAIO VGF-AP1L Pocket Digital Music Player

Date of Review:  Jan 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: Music lovers looking for a unique and versatile way to carry their tunes along with them without assimilating into the iPod collective should give this device a look.
Review: There's a new music beef cooking; can you smell it?

It's not the new Nelly diss track aimed at Chingy (what could those two possibly be beefing over? Whose music sucks more?), and you won't hear a song about it on any radio show or...

Good Device, BAAAAD Software

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2005
The Bottom Line: Avoid it like the plague until Sony releases decent software (I will come back and edit this review to 5 stars the day they do)
Review: Very stylish and well made device. Too bad Sony had to turn this work of art over to their sotware developers for the firmware and software. Both seem EXTREMELY buggy, however it is hard to tell whether the SonicStage computer software is mangling...

Sony_VGF_AP1L Pocket Vaio

Date of Review:  May 4, 2005
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this player: song playlist limit (999), inefficient storage of playlists, no available car charger, cannot buy a spare cradle for charging in 2 places.
Review: I purchased a Pocket Vaio VGF-AP1L due to all the hype about it and because I generally like SONY products. However, it has several very serious deficiences. I now really wish that I would have bought an IPOD. Here is a short list of the things I...

Stellar value and hardware quality

Date of Review:  Feb 15, 2006
The Bottom Line: Get it if you want amazing photo and audio quality, photo upload capabilities, and can deal with the difficulties of getting the player and software to cooperate.
Review: Past Experience:
I own a flash-based Creative Muvo (128MB) mp3 player. However, this marks my first HD based mp3 player purchase.

Research:
I knew everyone and their brother had iPods, but friends told me that they were prone to...

Terry Byford, UK

Date of Review:  Mar 27, 2005
The Bottom Line: For all-round performance, build quality, ease of use, fairly large storage capacity, digital camera downloads and compatibility with MP3, a superb device even at #UK prices! Lucky USA buyers!
Review: This is for me a beautiful piece of Sony design. It is simplicity itself to use especially capturing CD from my collection via the SonicStage software supplied. I have no interest in MP3 (although there is a software upgrade available to those who...

Vaio VGF player could not be more disappointing

Date of Review:  Jul 27, 2005
The Bottom Line: The above categories do not adequately let me illustrate how terrible this player actually is. One star, barely.
Review: I was in the market for a new MP3 player to hold my collection of about 7000 mp3s. I saw the Vaio VGF-AP1L player on ECost and was immediately attracted to it. When I received the player two days later, however I could not have been more...

Neat product from SONY

Date of Review:  Aug 13, 2005
Review: I have bought this sony mp3 player from ecost website for $229. First thing I did on receiving the product was to update the firmware. It works like a charm from then on.

This player comes with a small software (apart from sonic stage)...
