Great Sound and Comfort. Poor Craftsmanship

The Bottom Line: Avoid purchasing this product until manufacture resolves design flaw. You will need to request warranty service.
The look and comfort is a 4-5 star rating. However, what invalidates the score is the craftsmanship.
I initially purchased the V-Moda Duo Wired HDST-Blk earphones on July 27th at the Apple Store 5th Avenue in NY while on holiday.
Shortly within a week or so the product started to short out the left channel to the point it no longer worked at all.
When I returned home from my vacations I went to the Apple Store Arden Fair, Sacramento on August 10th. As usual, Apple takes care of its customers! Even though Apple did not manufacture the product the store manager exchanged the faulty pair with apologies. Apple is amazing! They certainly know how to gain customer satisfaction and trust.
October 15th the earphones failed again for the same reason. This time I contacted V-Moda and arranged a warranty replacement. I had to mail the earphones to the company and wait for a replacement pair. Time wait. Approximately 10 days.
November 24th the earphones failed again for the same reason. Again, I contacted V-Moda and arranged a warranty replacement. Today is December 10th. I am still waiting for the replacement pair.
Summary, since July 27th the V-Moda headphones have failed 3 times through normal use. Normal use is me using my iPhone sitting, walking or driving in my car. The headphones are used for either listening to music or using the voice piece to communicate. I am equally careful with the headphones as I am with my beloved iPhone.
In the meantime while waiting for the replacement pair again. I had also on November 24th pulled out my "V-Moda Red Roxx" head phones. These do not have the voice talking feature. And the pair also failed while using my new 160 gb iPod classic at the Gym while on the Elliptical machine. These headphones have hardly been used.
Since I could not understand why a completely different pair of earphones would fail in the same way I started feeling my way through the cord and learned that there must be an issue where the cord meets the part that plugs into the iPhone or iPod. To be expected, the cord does move and I am wondering if the movement weakens the wire until is perhaps just breaks within the plastic shielding.
Until V-Moda remedies this obvious fault, I can not recommend this great sounding and comfortable earphones. It is proven that these earphones will fail within a short time frame during expected average use.
