Champagne, Caviar, or a Unique Homes Magazine? Have you ever dreamed of living in an Ocean Front Property, in a Golf Estate, or maybe a penthouse in New York? Perhaps you dream of a Castle in England, a Georgian Mansion in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or a 100 acre Country Estate. Escape from it all and see how the "other half" lives.

We have been subscribers to "Unique Homes-The Magazine of Luxury Real Estate" for over nine years. This 200-300 page publication prints six issues per year and showcases luxury homes in the United States and throughout the world. Each issue dedicates several pages to showcase one to three luxurious properties with several full color pictures and a detailed article describing the property, the area, the exterior and interior of the home. On occasion, they will interview and showcase a celebrity home, such as the March 1998 issue did with Sylvester Stallone. His 24,000 square foot estate in Miami, Florida, sat on over 11 acres and included three guest houses, a resort like swimming pool, a stained glass ceiling in the living room, a billiard room, and a state-of-the-art movie theater (every home should have one!).

Stallone's property, along with thousands of others, was for sale in this "Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous" type magazine. This publication presents luxurious properties and serves as a liaison to Realtors who specialize in high end Real Estate. Homes range anywhere from $300,000 to several million dollars. My favorite showcase home was a 37,000+ square foot home outside of Nashville, TN, called Hillcrest Manor. It boasted 30+ immaculately landscaped acres, three levels of living space, and was being sold complete with the furniture. It had been professionally decorated in a French and Italian style and truly made me drool. (They didn't accept our offer!)

Seriously, if you enjoy other magazines such as Architectural Digest, you should pick up a copy of Unique Homes at the news stand. They sell for $6.95 per issue with a discounted rate for subscriptions. Although we most likely will not be purchasing our next home from this particular magazine, we have clipped pages over the years of our favorite homes and decor. This is a tremendous aid in putting together your own plans for building a home. I always thought that only millionaires enjoyed the luxury of Interior Decorators, but this magazine prompted me to make inquiries - and this Mid-western girl will do it right with our next home!
