"It's a funny thing killin' a man, you take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have"

Date of Review:  Nov 27, 1999
Review: The Western, or cowboy picture, is an old and popular genre. It lives on simple plots, easily recognizable, one dimensional characters, and a simple formula. Every now and then a film comes along that defies that formula. High Noon, The Man Who Shot...

"I Though I Was Dead Too...Turns Out I Was Just In Nebraska."

Date of Review:  Aug 28, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you ever thought westerns were too flat, Unforgiven will pleasantly surprise you.
Review: There is just something about westerns that has never really appealed to me. I don?t know if it?s the all-too-predictable storylines that they typically follow, or if I just don?t see very much depth in your typical ?man with the white hat? good...

Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven" (Express Review)

Date of Review:  Oct 18, 2006
Review: Has there been a better Western since 1992's Unforgiven? Doubtful. It's fitting then that this comes from Clint Eastwood, the last great movie star willing to while away a significant part of his career in what's become a sadly forsaken genre...

AFI: Unforgiven (1992): Forgive me, this is NOT a classic

Date of Review:  Mar 8, 2000
Review: We've watched this movie twice now (me and my group watching the AFI 100). We first watched it on one long Academy Award weekend in 1993. There was some general grumbling on the pace of the film (and, ultimately, it's length). There was a general...

It's kind of good, kind of bad, and well..kind of ugly.

Date of Review:  Mar 20, 2007
The Bottom Line: If you like Westerns where one guys shoots another guy and don't mind one cuss word for every ten regular words then this movie is for you!
Review: This is one of those movies where I don't quite see what all the fuss is about. I have only liked a couple of westerns in my time, and since opinions vary, I won't mention them here. I did not, however, like this one.

The story seems...

One of the best westerns available

Date of Review:  Feb 24, 2002
The Bottom Line: A western film that's intelligent and amazing? Yep.
Review: This is one of the most amazing films ever made, and is certainly one of the finest westerns. Rank it right up there with High Noon, Clint Eastwoods "Dollar" trilogy directed by Sergio Leone, John Wayne's best stuff or etc., etc.

I won't...

Blood And Tyranny In Big Whiskey-Hollywood Fat W/O

Date of Review:  May 27, 2003
The Bottom Line: Incredibly bleak orgy of violence
Review: This is my entry in epinions member Darkofnight's Hollywood Fat Write-Off. The objective is to pick an Academy Award Winning film, that in the estimation of the reviewer, is not of Award winning caliber, and trash it relentlessly. My contribution,...

Heck yeah, pretty good film!

Date of Review:  Apr 15, 2001
The Bottom Line: I think this movie is under-rated, better than realized by most. Closer to reality than anything that CE has ever done.
Review: I guess I've watched many a Clint Eastwood film, and enjoyed many of them. I've watched Clint play the practically immortal gunmen, unkillable and perfect in his shooting, which could come off as very unbelievable, yet likeable in it's own way.

I'm Only in it for the Money: Unforgiven

Date of Review:  Oct 26, 2001
The Bottom Line: Actor/Director Clint Eastwood provides a film experience equal to the best of John Ford or Sam Peckinpah. Nuff said!
Review: "It's a hell of a thing to kill a man. You take away everything he's got, and everything he's ever going to have." William Munny

Hollywood has produced many Westerns; a few have crossed the line from entertainment to greatness. Unforgiven...

One of Eastwood's finest, but not perfect

Date of Review:  Dec 30, 2002
The Bottom Line: One of Clint's finest, but still didn't deserve all the Oscars
Review: This film is dedicated to Don Siegel and Sergio Leone, and it ought to be. Clint owes almost everything to these guys, because they directed his best films. Actually Clint hasn't reached that high after that... alright, he did with Perfect World but...
