Alanis Returns With A Mega Blockbuster - Under Rug Swept

by   kristinafh , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Feb 20, 2002
Pros: A return to what Alanis does best - pop songs with heart and soul.
Cons: Surprise - none!
The Bottom Line: Alanis comes back to reclaim her original fans. Yeah, she's still singing about relationships, but that's a good thing.
Review: Short Preamble
I'm not as radical of a fan as flamepillar however, I do have a certain appreciation for Alanis Morissette.

History
When she came out with her debut cd in 1995 (Jagged Little Pill), I...

Alanis Morissette and Under Rug Swept: What rug have you been living under?

by   flamepillar , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Mar 7, 2002
Pros: A tight, well-crafted piece of work that brings back the old Pill sound.
Cons: Hmmm... I guess the cover's kind of ugly, by comparison, ya know.
The Bottom Line: Why do I beg like a child for your candy, Alanis? Because I have fallen in love and I can't get up.
Review: Dearest Alanis,

It's been a while! So how have you been? I was starting to get a little worried. After the manner in which Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was received, I thought we might never hear from you again! I'm glad you...

Alanis Morissette won’t be Under Rug Swept this time around!

by   Monnie1976 ,  Mar 17, 2002
Pros: Astute lyrics, unbeatable hooks, classic yet refreshing Morrisette.
Cons: A few weak or redundant songs
The Bottom Line: Fantastic third effort from the enchanting disenchanted Alanis Morissette. A few weak songs do not diminish the more frequent brilliant moments.
Review: When Alanis Morissette stormed onto the scene with her acidic, caustic but brilliant Jagged Little Pill I have to admit I was first a skeptic. I missed out on her first release “You Oughta Know” when I was in a hell otherwise known as Casper, Wyoming so...

Alanis Morissette tells us about stories Under Rug Swept.

by   cecile1 ,  Mar 15, 2004
Pros: Great songs with an original way of writing
Cons: A couple of songs are not that good
The Bottom Line: A very nice album to listen to.
Review: Under Rug Swept is actually the first Alanis Morissette album I ever bought. I didn’t know her before that one, though now I’ve managed to listen to her previous releases. Under Rug Swept is like the perfect balance between ...

This Album Will Never Be Under Rug Swept! IGTMIM W/O

by   Cartman_2k ,  May 31, 2002
Pros: She produced the entire album herself, awesome music and songs
Cons: "Surrendering" isn't extremely special
The Bottom Line: If you like Alanis, you will love this album! Exceptionally great in every way!
Review: Everyone who has been a teenager knows what it’s like to have your parents tell you what you can do, and what you cannot do. My parents wanted me to study hard, be polite and nice to the elderly and go to bed early. They did not want me to smoke or...

Why was this one swept under the rug?

by   LaurenMarie ,  Dec 16, 2002
Pros: Alanis goes back the roots that made her famous without sounding tired and done.
Cons: I didn't catch on that this album was the real thing sooner
The Bottom Line: If you liked JLP you should buy UTRS and delight in it just as much as I
Review: It’s a Monday evening in Lakeridge, Virginia and I sit on my love seat with my laptop propped in front of me. All the while the sweet sounds of Alanis’s album Under the Rug Swept rings out of the speakers.

I am sure I’ve...

Alanis Morissette Finally Finds Rock Under The Rug...Swept

by   lynus ,  Mar 19, 2002
Pros: Ten beautiful, creative, rock tunes from Alanis.
Cons: One sour spot and the fact that the CD has only 11 tracks.
The Bottom Line: Alanis goes from a movie theater, forgets to say thank you, and finally rocks out under the rug.
Review: Rocker Alanis Morissette goes from being angry, to being spiritual, to being well….a rocker. In Under Rug Swept (gosh, the grammar king in me wants to call the album Under THE Rug Swept) Alanis details various emotions both...

My Utopia.

by   Cosmic_tears ,  Nov 13, 2002
Pros: It's Alanis! All by her, improved from SFIJ.
Cons: If you dont like lyrics that run on and on... u might not like it.
The Bottom Line: I LOVE IT. Just listen to it. It's addicting.
Review: Being a die-hard Alanis fan, I bought this cd the day it came out without previously hearing the tracks. I wasn't dissapointed. Since Jagged Little Pill, Alanis' popularity seemed to die down. Some would say that Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was...

This is my ideal...

by   eeklug ,  Mar 1, 2002
Pros: eclectic range of styles, ponderable lyrics, more great stuff from Alanis
Cons: bubble-gum pop style cover
The Bottom Line: I love this CD because it speaks to me all of the things that I have been longing to hear but haven't had the words to speak myself.
Review: The morning that the new Alanis Morisette CD, Under Rug Swept, was released, I rushed to my local music store to check it out. And I was not dissapointed in the least. This powerful CD contains a wide range of musical ideas including the radio-released...

Pleasantly Surprised

by   lonely_pigeon ,  Jul 5, 2003
Pros: One of the best Alanis albums ever released.
Cons: Utopia isn't the greatest track, but others make up for it.
The Bottom Line: If you've bought it, congratulations. If you haven't...what are you waiting for?! ;o)
Review: I bought Under Rug Swept as a birthday present for a friend. When I took it home I played it on my ...
