Great digital camera for the price

by   SmockingRoom ,  Jan 21, 2000
Pros: great quality photos, great software
Cons: none
Review: My business is smocking dresses for flower girls, communion, and christenings. Many of the dresses are white embroidery on white fabric, so they do not show up well in regular pictures.
One day a website builder walked into my shop and showed me how...

Quick and Easy

by   redmond ,  Dec 17, 1999
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Heavy battery drain when LCD on, use rechargeables for best economy.
Review: I purchased this camera from my small business supplier on his recommendation that it would be quick to set up and easy to use partly due to the excellent manual that accompanies this camera. The software went to work immediately after installation....

Great point-and-shoot!

by   muelleim ,  Oct 30, 2001
Pros: Quick time to to first shot; Good picture quality; small & light.
Cons: USB transfer not very fast. No zoom. Only 1.3 megapixel.
The Bottom Line: If you can still get it for under $160, get it - its ease of use, good image quality, small size and low price make it fun to use.
Review: O.k., here is the deal: I have two cameras, the $150 Umax Astracam 1800 (1.3MP), and the $500 Ricoh RDC-7 (3.2 MP). Both cameras are not mainstream, but cool if you taker a closer look. They are both small and give good pictures.

Here is why...

Umax Astracam 1800 worth the wait!

by   dozarofmoldex ,  Jan 30, 2001
Pros: Model 1800 1.3mp. Nice pics, Sony CCD, USB, Fast SmartMedia change. Battery economy.
Cons: Production looks rushed. Manual missing features! Quality control concerns. Few extras.
The Bottom Line: Bottom Line: Good pictures, 1.3 megapixel, Sony CCD, USB download, quick SmartMedia change, $200. Not too shabby!
Review: I was waiting for a digital camera that took great pictures,
downloaded them quickly to my desktop or laptop, and cost less
than $200. I looked into the HPPhotoSmart 215 but was turned off
by reports of battery issues on epinions,...

Excellent Little Camera

by   sherri1019 ,  Dec 13, 1999
Pros: Ease of use

Review: I researched digital cameras on line extensively. I found that this little camera does a great job and it is so easy to use. The actual software is a little hard to get used to but since I have it is smooth sailing. The only thing about digital...

Instant gratification

by   tanya.aletto ,  Dec 21, 1999
Pros: fun and easy
Cons: not too easy to set up if you dont have the required setup
Review: This is a fun camera to use. The best part is that you get instant gratification by viewing the pictures right after you have taken them. It is also great not to pay for film developing and you can email them to your friends.

The camera also...

CHEAP, if you know what I mean.

by   badhmash ,  May 6, 2001
Pros: Great Price, Average Picture Quality, Relatively small, USB Connectivity, 4MB Memory
Cons: Extremely fragile. I had a DOA already. No Flash, sometimes blurry pictures.
The Bottom Line: If you get one that is NOT Dead on Arrival, great!. But you are likely to have mechanical problems with it. What else do you expect from UMAX?
Review: UMAX has been around for a few years now, and are more well known for their scanners. If you own or have owned a UMAX product, you are one of two kinds of people; you like their products, or you hate them. There is no in between because of one simple...

Pros: cheap, simple, good software package
Cons: fragile, unreliable
Review: I originally bought this camera because of the price--after rebate, it was under $100.00. (The camera I received did not include the cradle or base in the picture on this site.) It was simple to learn how to use and produced pictures good enough...
