Twister Will Blow You Away!

My wife and I saw this movie first on the big screen. I had pushed to see it; but to my surprise, it was one that SHE loved as much as I did!

The first time through, Twister is intense! It will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will curse the large soda you bought because your kidneys are screaming for relief and you don't want to miss a second!

Jan De Mont directs an action flick that caters to women as well as men. The movie that was supposed to catapult Bill Paxton to stardom instead had Helen Hunt steal the spotlight and leap-frog poor Bill and become a certified Super Star! Her portrayal of the obsessed Tornado Chaser, Jo Harding, is incredible. Her way of stealing soon-to-be-ex-husband Paxton away from the over-matched Jami Gertz is incredible. You feel bad for poor Jami and are cheering for Helen at the same time.

Paxton's referred to as "The Extreme" because of his intensity, but the most intense character is Jo. Having seen her father sucked away by a Category 5 Tornado when she is but a child, her obsession is understandable, and her desire to understand these killer storms is noble. It only seems fair that her life should be in order at the end of the film.

The supporting cast, including a total-jerk role for Cary Elwes, is top-notch. The special effects are awe-inspiring. The dialog is often times witty. Case in point; Jo's Aunt Meg, wanting to drive herself to the hospital after a house falls on her during a tornado. One of the storm chasers tells her:

"Honey, your car's in a tree around the corner."

Before this happens to you; go get a copy of this video... you'll want to watch it next time there's a storm and you don't want to leave the house!
