Get in the 'suck zone'!

Despite the title of this film, this movie doesn't suck. Quite the opposite. It ROCKS! The thing I like more than anything about this movie is that it has this 'feel' about it. Since it takes place during only a 2 day period, the attention paid to detail is refreshing.

Many people trashed this movie when it originally came out because they said it relied too much on computer-generated special effects, and although it IS true that there is a LOT of eye-candy in this motion picture, it in no way detracts from the feeling of 'being there'.

It adds to it.

A large portion of the movie is shot in the vehicles while they are chasing the twisters across Oklahoma on a particularly nasty day for weather. 'Tornado alley' is not a good place to be on a bad day and you are right smack-dab in the middle of it with them. This makes for tension, suspense, action, and a few surprises.

The dialogue and story are excellent with the actors cast in the roles that are just perfect for them. I can't imagine anyone but Bill Paxton as the intense ex-stormchaser and future ex-husband who gets sucked (pardon the pun) into chasing storms one last time with his future second-wife (played by Jamie Gertz) being dragged along first willingly, then not-so-willingly.

Helen Hunt as the intense head of the group of storm chasers and former wife of Bill's character is just great. She has her reasons for being so intense, and we find out about that during the movie, too.

I have probably watched this movie a hundred times, and after I am done with this review I am going to watch it again. And I am actually looking forward to it. It's THAT good. Good special effects, good acting, good movie. See it.
