Author's Review
The Corolla brand of Toyota corporation continues to evolve. The improved design can only be good news to car lovers, owners and car enthusiasts everywhere in this country. When it comes to those who specifically enjoy the Corolla, this good news can go a long way. In fact, it's been a long time since Toyota first introduced the Corolla. When it was first launched in 1966, no one knew it would be the darling, the most popular brand of the company. Consumers have loved it and bought it all these years. The 2002 Toyota Corolla was redesigned to be released as an early 2003 model. So far, based on my interview with the local dealerships and a friend who has already snapped one, it's turning heads on the road.
Longer, taller and wider than previous model
What will you get for your money?
Just last week, I had the time to test-drive the S model. Just for your information, this car is available in three models: CE, S and LE. The first thing I will report here is that I got some great comments from a few young guys who were waiting to watch Star Wars when I pulled up and parked at a new local business and theater center. They took a few looks and commented that I had some great wheels. I guess all they were alluding to was the great style, the superb, flush exterior that this car flaunts. It has it and it lets passersby see it! This compact, five-passenger sedan has a new appearance that is a la Europeene. It's the European look that makes a lot of people turn around to take a second look. There is no doubt that this small is not only about its looks, but it's also about great quality that the Corolla brand has been known to have all around. It's, without any doubt, the greatest, hottest thing on the road right now
How much does it cost?
Well, the base price starts at $13,370. But, if you want extras such as 15-inch tires and alloy wheels, you know you will have to pay for the addition. My test-drive model had a rear spoiler, side rocker panels, headlamps and fog lights. The exterior styling of this sedan suggests its ruggedness, athletic and upscale body. Depending on how many additional features you want, the cost may go up to $17,300. The S tester is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission that allows me to get great acceleration as I negotiated the freeway. All of this is possible because this sporty sedan is powered by a 1.8 liter, four-cylinder twin-cam engine generating 130 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 125 lb.ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.
Safety Features
Driver and front-passenger seat-mounted, side-impact airbags, power windows and remote keyless entry.
If you want to know about this car's safety history, just go back to read about my 1999, 2000, 2001 review. In 2000, my family was involved in an accident in a Corolla. Despite the seriousness of the accident, the features that were aboard helped my family to walk out with minor injuries. Today, my wife, daughter and son owe their lives to this car that was totaled ultimately. If anything, this car is reliable. I would recommend it to anybody who cares about safety.
Well-equipped, well-designed and well-built and priced
Being a tall guy, I will admit that I had lots of head and leg room. Unlike the previous models, the S model really gives you a lot of space. The Toyota engineers have redesigned this car to meet their consumers' needs. All the Corolla enthusiasts can only have praise for them. They enjoy the leather features that can be found in the steering wheel, shift lever. They also appreciate the chrome accents, air conditioning, power door and mirrors, dual front airbags and three-point safety belts. In addition, my tester gave me a smooth ride. There was no outside noise that interfered with my enjoyment of the stereo system. There is no doubt that this car is leaner, longer, and faster.
Recommendations
If you want to have a new small sedan that you can depend on, the Toyota Corolla is a good one for you. Just pick your model. If you don't care about driving a sporty model, just go ahead with the LE.
Safe driving!
