A fun toy

Date of Review:  Nov 26, 2001
The Bottom Line: It's incredible fun and a joy to drive. Buy it as a weekend guy and a toy, but it's not optimal for a daily driver.
Review:
I've made a few observations after having the car for eight months:

- The tachometer is the primary gauge on the console since it's the largest of the three gauges and is in the middle; the speedometer is smaller and on the left side...

GREAT fun....at first

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2003
The Bottom Line: For recreation use, rarely used and only for fun, then I would recommend it. Otherwise, No, because it simply isn't practical to try to use it for everyday things.
Review: This car was a gift to me on my 17th birthday, when I received my license. I absolutely LOVED it...but then again, I was in high school. The handling was amazing, engine was surprisingly quiet, and the storage isn't as bad as you would think it was...

Great Car for the Money!

Date of Review:  Nov 12, 2005
Review: We wanted something fun to drive, yet not so expensive to own and operate. Our 2000 MR2 fits that bill exactly. The unique look, the outstanding handling, and the ergonomics are its strongest points. I'm 6'4" tall, and it is about the only car of...

Pocket Rocket in Topless Roadster form

Date of Review:  Jul 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: Fast little bugger with no respect for the speed limit or other drivers!
Review: Though not a Mazda Miata (which is a little more fun to drive - you get to thrash it around the track more), the 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder comes pretty close!

Test driven at a dealership (great sales person, who let me thrash the car as long...

Fast - Great Look - Cheap! Spyder!

Date of Review:  Mar 10, 2001
The Bottom Line: This car is a great car!
Review: We just recently got this car brand new! A brand new Metalic Blue 2001 MR2 Spyder Convertable Coupe. The car looks great and drives great. You can feel special if you have one because they are limited. They only make 4000 of these worldwide per...

The Wife's View of the MR2

Date of Review:  May 25, 2001
The Bottom Line: I am certainly not a sports car enthusiast. I am just a wife whose husband is going through premature midlife crisis. This review is written from that perspective.
Review: So your husband (or wife, but this car seems to me to be a guy?s car!) tells you they want a Toyota MR2 Spyder. A WHAT? Yes, a Spyder. It?s a little-known non-advertised 2-seater sports car manufactured by Toyota. I?ve been told it looks kind of...

I Love my MR2

Date of Review:  Jun 11, 2001
The Bottom Line: Buy it, lease it, rent it. Just get back to having fun behind the wheel.
Review: This car is a paradox looking for a place to happen. The moment the weather is warm, you will want to take the top down and drive your significant other to the nearest beach destination...barely being able to fit a small gym bag in the tiny storage...

An engineer's perspective

Date of Review:  May 27, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you love the classic British sports cars, you will be thrilled with the Spyder.
Review: I learned to drive in a Triumph TR4, quite a roadster from the late-1960's. The Toyota MR2 Spyder is darned close, and much better in terms of safety features. I've yet to hit the 1,000 mile mark on mine so I have not tested its performance to the...

Pound for pound, the most fun that you can have legally

Date of Review:  Apr 23, 2001
The Bottom Line: Looking for a convertible sports car that's a head turner and fun to own and drive? Look no further than the MR2 Spyder. Find one, buy it, drive it, smile.
Review: I needed a replacement car after my 1995 Integra was humiliated by being stripped and dumped on a side street resting on 4 donuts. Looking around for a suitable fun to drive car (okay - I am in the second half of my 40's and the second half of my...
