2001 Celica GT - Good, but not perfect...

by   jamesp81 ,  May 16, 2006
Pros: reliability, nimble handling, awesome styling, fuel economy
Cons: non-existent low end torque, not good for stick shift newbies, not much power, blind zones
The Bottom Line: If you can accustom yourself to the clutch and don't mind the lack of sports car power, I strongly recommend it. It's fun to drive, and good on gas.
Review: I recently had an opportunity to test drive a 2001 Toyota Celica GT, and it was a mixed experience overall. Like the Mitsubishi Eclipse, you have the fighter plane cockpit feeling when sitting behind the wheel of the Celica. This is a pro as far as ...

"It has six speeds??!!"

by   rd.warrior ,  Jan 23, 2001
Pros: A lot of car for the price/180 horsepower out of a 4 cylinder!!/6 speed transmission
Cons: small back seat
The Bottom Line: Great car for a great price. Excellent candidate for that guy or girl looking to build a competitive street racer, or just as a daily driver.
Review: OK....so you want a sports car that looks great and performs like a dream, but you don't want to spend a fortune? Well my friend, your prayers have been answered! The new Toyota Celica GTS is all that and a bag of chips.

I've been impressed w/...

A great compromise that isn't much of one!

by   gjwarn93 ,  Mar 29, 2002
Pros: Style, price, handling, breaking.
Cons: Rear viewing.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an economical, fun-to-drive, reliable, competitively-priced sporty vehicle, you need to take a serious look at the Toyota Celica.
Review: For years (decades, actually), I have wanted a sports car. While I was helping to raise a family, that was out of the question. Now that we are "empty nesters," it became a possibility again. I read a lot of articles and test drove a number of cars...

2001 Silver Celica GT (Canada)

by   kleung21 ,  Jul 22, 2001
Pros: Eye catching styling with quick and responsive handling in an affordable package
Cons: Power is a little light for this class of car. Somewhat noisy at higher speeds
The Bottom Line: A sharp car which will draw attention anywhere you go. Sporty, well-built and comfortable. However, competitors' are offering cars which closely match/beat the features at this price point.
Review: I bought the Toyota Celica in May 2001. At the time, I managed to get an amazing 3.7% financing rate and $1400 cdn off the invoice price of the car. What attracted me to this model is the same thing that has me smiling when I drive it today - cutting ...

Pros: Fuel economy, interior appointments, legendary Toyota reliability, appearance
Cons: Vision to the rear
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an economical, affordable car that looks great, drives great and will be reliable to a fault, the Celica should probably be your choice.
Review: I recently purchased my 2001 Celica and am extremely happy with my choice. The car's performance certainly exceeds my expectations overall. It handles very well and what's not to like about 35 mpg on the highway? I took a 400 mile round trip shortly...

by   clemsonkids ,  Apr 5, 2002
Pros: sporty and cute - very happy so far
Cons: poor visability - back seat is CRAMPED - but what do you expect?
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car - if I have any problems I'll be sure to edit my Epinion to keep you "in the know" - Happy driving!!
Review: I bought this car with 7,000 miles on it. 4,000 miles later, it has been trouble free and I am very happy with with the car and my Toyota experience in general. I have the GT - automatic - with CD player, spoiler and sunroof. Great sound system, with...

Another 2001 silver Celica

by   donnaruiz420 ,  Mar 24, 2003
Pros: Dang! this car is light and fast and super good with turns.
Cons: Too bad its really small in the back.
The Bottom Line: Celicas speed and power is underestimated.A great car if you are into racing and dont want another played out civic or integra. All in all this is a TITE car!
Review: I got my car for 160$ a month. It runs really good no problems with the motor or anything. However, when it rains or when there is a big dip or an uneven road, the car can't handle it the steering wheel is hard to control. The gear box is really small...

2001 Celica GT

by   snowdawg88 ,  Jan 13, 2009
Pros: Everything listed above.
Cons: The seats really need lumbar support.
The Bottom Line:

The Celica is very reliable, handles well, has good power, gets GREAT gas mileage and is a beautiful vehicle.

Review: I bought my 2001 Celica GT in March, 2008 with 75,000 miles on it. I downgraded from the Camaros and Corvettes of my youth with something more economical yet still sportscaresque. This is one of the best cars I've ever owned. My Celica now has ...

Funky car, but better choices out there

by   tranceboy ,  Sep 7, 2001
Pros: Futuristic styling, causes head-turns by on-lookers, tight engineering
Cons: Slightly underpowered, jittery ride, low driver's seat
The Bottom Line: The Celica just got passed by Acura and VW in the small car sport category, on power alone. But this car remains a stylish choice.
Review: I purchased the 2001 Celica GT in June, 2001, after driving a '98 Corolla and, previously, a '91 Corolla. As expected, the Toyota engineering is flawless. The car is tightly designed and nothing rattles. The cornering is very flat for a car of this price...

sleek, good handeling automobile.

by   consolidated ,  Aug 27, 2001
Pros: Great looking sport car and powerful.
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: The Toyota Celica GT 2001 is a very nice and fun automobile to drive and anyone considering to purchase a sport car should give this one a look.
Review: This fine looking automobile is aimed at the younger generation. It is definitely a beautiful and fast car.
The sad thing is that many youngsters can afford these powerful machines and they will want to test its limit. Accidents are for most part a...
