Test Driving the 4runner

by   jayson ,  Sep 9, 1999
Pros: Drivability, comfort, luxury feel without huge price
Cons: back seat
Review: Being an SUV owner for a few years now I am very particular about certain qualities of my car. After test driving, and doing some research on the new 4runner, there are quite a few things I found to be very enjoyable.

First off, I like the...

Simply put... the best.

by   pdxguy ,  Jun 29, 2006
Pros: It's solid. Reliable. Stylish. Rugged. Inspires envy of those who have lesser SUV's.
Cons: The gas tank really is too small. Underpowered for regular HWY driving (4-cylinder).
The Bottom Line: Get one. It's the best, most versatile vehicle I've ever owned.
Review: I've had my 2000 4-runner for 2 years, have put 40,000 completely trouble free miles on it (I just rolled 100,000 miles), and can't imagine driving anything else. I have the base 4x4, 4-cylinder model, with manual transmission, and highly recommend it. ...

Review: Hello, I read the reviews here on the 2000 Toyota 4Runner before considering purchasing our used 4Runner in May 2005, and the reviews definitely persuaded us in our purchase of this fine automobile. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, this is a long ...

2000 4-Runner 4WD Limited

by   buggee ,  Jul 14, 2000
Pros: Re-sale value, Ride, Creature comforts
Cons: Not much to mention
Review: I personally am not a fan of the SUV, and that is because of the understanding that the SUV is a cash-cow for auto manufacturers. However, my wife doesn't really care about such positioning and wanted a quality SUV. Since I am the Man of the House, I...

2000 4Runner SR5 4WD V6-Most Reliable Car Ever Bought

by   forrunner ,  Aug 4, 2008
Pros: Still runs like new and minimal maintenance or repairs when oil is changed regularly.
Cons: The negative to this vehicle is the location of the oil filter.
The Bottom Line: Totally recommend purchase of vehicle.
Review: I bought my 2000 4Runner during the 2000 Clearance sale with only 100 miles on it from the dealer. Of all the cars that I have ever bought, this has been the most reliable and trouble free that I have ever encounter. All that I had to do to the car was ...

A Winning Combination!

by   Richard ,  Dec 10, 1999
Pros: reliability, versatility (great for mountains)
Cons: gas mileage (most SUVs are worse)
Review: Learn how to ambush the dealer to get a great price! (last few paragraphs) This car rocks! But you still must make an informed decision before paying $30,000 grand for it (plus $4000 in other fees). So do your research.

Comparison With Other...

I love what you do from me...

by   B-ROCK ,  Jan 15, 2000
Pros: room, size, power, handling
Cons: price
Review: This is not just any ordinary SUV, this is a monster when it comes to the winter of Minnesota. The 4Runner makes the weather of MN look like ice cream getting run over. Not only does it have all this power, it also has the 4 wheel drive option to get you...

Top choice SUV

by   rplum ,  Nov 1, 2001
Pros: Good quality, adequate cargo space, good re-sale value
Cons: Not too roomy, gas guzzler
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend the 4-Runner because it's a quality car with good re-sale value. Low maintenance, so no headaches here.
Review: My husband and I lease a 2000 V-6 4 runner and are pleased enough to consider buying it at the end of the lease. We are loyal Honda owners and considered the Passport as well as the X-terra. Nissan had a sporty looking SUV but for the price and low...

The 4Runner - Everyone should have one!

by   GAJenni ,  Feb 10, 2000
Pros: It rides smooth, looks great, and is very comfortable.
Cons: It uses a lot of gas (all SUVs do).
Review: The Toyota 4Runner is my favorite SUV -- actually, my favorite vehicle, all together. It looks good, runs smoothly, and has so many great features, such as a 6 speaker AM/FM/Cassette/CD player, sunroof, and a lot of space. The car looks great both on...
