Solara: The car of your dreams!

by   Sharkie ,  Oct 10, 2000
Pros: Amazing performance
Cons: none.
Review: Both of these cars are outstanding, but I would have to say that a Solara is like a dream car to me. The Toyota Solara 99' is shaped like a sports car but made for a family. It's a model up to the camry and has the same engine as a Lexus. The price of...

Japanese engineering, European flare

by   trint99 ,  Oct 7, 2003
Pros: Oodles of oomph, loads of luxury.
Cons: Minor annoyances only. Nothing mechanical.
The Bottom Line: If you gave me a BMW, I'd still drive my Solara.
Review: We bought our 99 Solara to replace a mini-SUV after moving from the mountains of Colorado to the flats of Texas. We needed a highway car and this one has fit the bill perfectly. We got the car used (70k miles) and were lucky to find a V6 SLE gold pack ...

Almost perfect

by   djcowboy ,  May 3, 2001
Pros: Great ride, lots of standard features, 2.2ltr w/5speed great on gas and very stylish.
Cons: Weak in the knees handling. Daytime running lights. Poor visibility to the left.
The Bottom Line: Comfort value, superior fit and finish, great on gas, roomy great to look at...who could ask for anything more.
Review: I am a loyal Toyota fan and think this is definitely the best Toyota I have owned...This car is almost perfect and the price is very reasonable if you are very cautious while picking options. I get well over 500 miles on a tank of gas and get...

Love It!

by   mejaz ,  May 5, 2000
Pros: Ride, Comfort, Engine & Transmission, Quality, Reliability
Cons: Sunroof is optional and no option for heated seats/neon-lights or Navigation system
Review: I bought a 99 Black Solara SLE V6 in April 1999. I needed a car that has more pizzaz (style & performance) than a standard mid-sized sedan (Camry/Accord) but was not willing to compromise on quality or to shell out more money than i could justify....

So quiet inside I'm in love!

by   mikey_mike ,  Oct 11, 2000
Pros: Smooth, fast, quiet, luxurious!
Cons: Not very popular - hard to re-sell.
Review: My sister kept making fun of me for getting this car, telling me that it is no attention-getter, it's too big, it's an old-man's car..etc..

I agree that it does not necessarily turn heads when you're on the road, but people, it's all about...

Best Car I've Ever Owned

by   potomacdude ,  Aug 20, 2003
Pros: Beautiful inside and out, tight steering, solidly built, smooth ride
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: A Definite Buy!
Review: This is my fourth car and by far the best I have ever owned. The Solara is beautiful inside and out, the ride is silky smooth. It is a solidly built car with tight steering and plenty of space, including the back seat. Trunk is also large.

Toyota did it again!

by   pamerella ,  Oct 27, 2001
Pros: Everything! Performance, styling, handling, comfort, reliability
Cons: Like most imports--expensive parts.
The Bottom Line: Don't wait. This car is a work of art.
Review: My husband wrote:
After working for a Toyota dealership and studying out the line-up of cars in 99, I convinced my folks to buy a new 99 Solara with the TRD package.
They were in the market for Pontiac's GTP, Chrysler's 300M, and several other...

TRD Solara

by   elee70 ,  Aug 24, 2000
Pros: pretty much everything
Cons: faulty radio/cd player, cup holder
Review: I have a 1999 Solara SE V6 Manual with the Toyota 25th Anniversay TRD package. If you are wondering what this, go to www.trdusa.com and check out the TRD Solara. That is what my car is. It was released before the Supercharger was developed so it was...

A Lexus in Toyota Clothing

by   STLambert ,  Dec 30, 2000
Pros: Comfort, Reliability, Quiet
Cons: rear-seat access- but that's just a function of any 2-door coupe.
Review: We wanted a reliable, comfortable sport coupe. After narrowing our selection down to the Accord coupe and the Solara we test drove both. The Accord was "sportier" and less luxrious. We ended up buying an SLE V6 Solara and couldn't be...

Best car I have ever owned...

by   ejy ,  Dec 10, 1999
Pros: Fast, comfortable, stylish, and distinct from its sedan sister
Cons: Remote trunk release and memory return seats are missing
Review: Of all the cars I test drove, and I looked for 4 full months, this car won my heart the first time I shifted from first to second and stomped on it! The ride is so smooth, quiet, and luxurious that on the highway you are just as comfortable after six...
