Best car I've ever owned: and I used to own a new BMW
Pros:
Excellent value, great mileage, dependable in the extreme, nimble, and peppy on the freeway
Cons:
Loud on the freeway (inside)
The Bottom Line:
This is the very best auto I've ever owned. Great mileage, is small yet roomy where I need it, peppy on the freeway, never broken down

Author's Review
I bought this car for $1000 used (obviously) from a Russian family who had just moved to the west coast from Minnesota. The car was parked under a tree, and covered with black tree droppings. It looked disgusting, despite the lack of dents. It had 130,000 miles.
Two years have elapsed, and I have put another 75,000 miles on a car my children have affectionately named "Lucy." She cleaned up nicely, and I regularly get 27-30 miles to the gallon.
I drive at least 30 miles a day on Interstate 5, and the going rate of speed is between 75 and 85 miles per hour. Lucy is an automatic with overdrive, and she has no trouble keeping pace, even through the hills. She downshifts exactly when I need it, and once, to avoid an accident with a semi, she topped 100 miles per hour before I knew it.
I've owned several vehicles, including a new 1996 BMW 3 series. Lucy is literally the best car I've ever owned. She never breaks, never complains, never has problems. She starts every morning, gets good mileage, and is about as far from a theft and vandal magnet as one could possibly get.
I live on a small residential street, and can turn completely around without going into reverse. The terrific turning radius means that I can get into and out of spots other rigs struggle with.
And I swear this car is invisible to law enforcement. I speed every single day, and cannot tell you how many times I've passed a cop going 20-30 miles over the speed limit. For some reason it must not register that the tan Corolla is really humming along at 85 miles per hour.
