Author's Review

Four years ago I purchased a 1989 four wheel drive Toyota Truck. Initially, I was concerned because the truck was 6 years old and had 120,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. But after a test drive and consideration of Toyota's excellent reputation, I decided to go for it. I have not regretted the decision for a moment.

In the four years I've owned this vehicle, I've had the oil changed regularly, had it tuned up twice, installed new tires and shocks and replaced the battery. Other than that, the truck has required no maintenance, has never broken down or refused to start. Currently, I have 170,000 miles and going strong. This is the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned!

If you're looking for a reliable and durable small truck, Toyota is a great choice. 1989 was an outstanding year. I understand that Toyota's reliability ratings have slipped over the past several years but they consistently rate high among all manufacturers.

Non full-size Toyota trucks are not roomy and they are trucks-so if you're looking for a smooth comfortable ride-the older Toyotas would be a poor choice. But if you want a reliable vehicle for camping or trips to Home Depot-one of these trucks would be an excellent choice.
