Keeps on Going and Going . . .

I bought my 89 Toyota pickup in 1995. I needed a vehicle that I could count on to haul a lot of stuff back and forth while I rearranged my life. Since then I've put over 70,000 miles on it without anything major other than basic maintenance.

Never in my life have I owned a vehicle whose oil is still golden 1000 miles after an oil change, even after 5 years. I have a bed liner to protect the body, I change the oil every 3000 miles, and I take it to a mechanic I trust to maintain the things that tire with age. He says this model is the best little truck on the road.

My gas mileage was a bit of a shock after many years of driving economy cars; 30 mpg on the highway, 25 mpg city. Of course these days, that's a lot better than your typical SUV or Minivan. The standard bench seat is the pits on long distance trips; even with beaded seat covers, I need chiropractic adjustments. Storage space is limited behind the seat, so we bought a "tuff box" to help with that.

This vehicle has exceeded my expectations. I expect that with good care I should be able to drive this truck for 300,000 miles.
