Finally a Way to Beat Oil Companies

by   badbonz0007 ,  Apr 5, 2008
Pros: Will save you thousands of dollars in gas.
Cons: They get you to every time with the warranty
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this for anyone that has a chance to beat the oil companies at their own game.
Review: Once upon a time, I can remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon. But it has been years since we have seen that happen. About five years ago, Toyota came out with a car that they advertised would get around 60 miles to the gallon. This was ...

Quite a Change from a Dodge Ram Hemi

by   sshelle ,  Jul 5, 2008
Pros: saves $$$ at the pump, surprisingly roomy, fun to drive
Cons: huge blind spots, not cheap, distracting video screen
The Bottom Line: We plan on buying one in the near future; even though our commutes are short, we can't afford gas at the current prices, and we need high mpg
Review: I won the use of one of these for 90 days for being a local teacher of the year, so I am getting quite the "test drive." So far I've driven it 5,000 miles; we just got back from a 2,500 mile trip from OK, through KS, MO, IA, MN, SD, WY, and NE. I ...

You have other choices...

by   mistsy ,  Jun 6, 2008
Pros: Tremendous gas mileage. Best in class.
Cons: Very, very expensive to buy. What you save is eaten up by the cost.
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent car but way to expensive and far too hard to buy. Try a Camry hybrid.
Review: The Prius is truly an amazing car. It will get you 45mpg much of the time and has nifty features unavailable in most other models. But I didn't buy it. The competition is slim for this car. Maybe the Honda Civic Hybrid, perhaps the Toyota Camry, ...

Not just for greenies

by   kbvespa ,  Feb 17, 2009
Pros: Economical, utilitarian, well engineered, not boring.
Cons: Relatively expensive, complicated (to repair), not overtly sporty.
The Bottom Line: It's not the car of the future, but it is definitely pointing the way.
Review: So, after giving my wife's aging Passat to one of the kids, we were in the market for a new car.  She commutes, I work from home, so there was no rush to get a second car.  The main criterion was that it had to be reasonably fuel ...

Love my Prius! Nice change from an SUV - ha!

by   travelista ,  Dec 5, 2008
Pros: 47+mpg, very roomy, good for the earth, Bluetooth, navigation
Cons: I wish it was more affordable for more people!
The Bottom Line: I LOVE my Prius! I put over 40,000 in my first year... everyone should have one!
Review: I purchased my Prius October 2007, and it was one of the top 5 best decisions for the year! I actually traded in my Land Rover Discovery and have been oh-so glad that I did that! Now that the gas prices have finally come down... it's been even ...

An Awesome Car with An Awesome Gas Mileage!

by   ejeffrie ,  Mar 6, 2008
Pros: 40+ MPG gas mileage, comfortable, roomy
Cons: slow, cloth interior
The Bottom Line: 40 MPG Gas Mileage and comfortable interior
Review: Introduction Since I do get a Hertz rental car special discount coupon from AAA auto mobile club and I heard a lot of stories about Toyota Prius Hybrid gas mileage, I decided to rent the Toyota Prius and try out the 2008 Toyota Prius myself ...

Love my Prius

by   perronss ,  Feb 7, 2008
Pros: 45 mpg, clever controls, practical.
Cons: seats somewhat uncomfortable with no height adjustment.
The Bottom Line: Well built, practical, great MPG. highly recommended.
Review: After my first month of driving I love my new Prius. Best way to describe it is well made, smart, and unique. I am 6' tall and have no problem with seating, however, I would like the seat to have height adjustment. That is the only thing I don't like. ...

Good Car

by   gerionsanger ,  Feb 8, 2009
Pros: Gas mileage, although more like 38 mpg.  Bigger inside than it looks.
Cons: Beeps all the time (when backing up, seat belts, doors, etc.). Blind spots.  Uncomfortable seats.
The Bottom Line: Recommended for a small car.
Review: Overall good car.  More guts than one might think, and it can zip around. It has an easy ride and handels fairly well.  It is low to the ground.  The beeps that it makes is very annoying and it would be nice to turn that feature ...

Great car, awesome fuel economy, a tad expensive

by   noctaire ,  Jun 23, 2008
Pros: HIGH MPG, Makes a statement, ample room and cargo space
Cons: Cost to purchase, fuel economy suffers badly on hills.
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy one -- this is a great car for the money and the price of gas isn't going down.
Review: I bought the Prius when I found my daily commute bumping up from 5 miles to ***60*** miles. It's a no-brainer if you're looking for a vehicle that gets high fuel economy and saves at the pump. The car has plenty of power for the typical driver. ...

No wonder Toyota can't keep 'em on the lot!

by   kensbev ,  Jul 6, 2008
Pros: Handles well, I get 54 mpg. Fits 6'4" hubby, two car seats, me and groceries.
Cons: Annoying beeper when backing up (which can be silenced), distracting fuel consumption screen.
The Bottom Line: Rent one from your Toyota dealer for the weekend, evaluate whether it'll suit your needs. I love mine.
Review: I'm a small car person, but after our first child, I let my husband talk me into a van. I absolutely loved it, but as we watched both our family and gas prices grow, we found we needed better gas mileage. I was thinking a more standard car, like the VW ...
