Which is better, I or II?!
Date of Review: Mar 1, 2008
The Bottom Line: This may be good, but it did not fit our crib and was too noisy to zip. We really didn't like it and better than the Original one!
If you re looking at this you ve probably seen the Original Cozy Crib tent (or Tent #I not #II). We tried both models (not liking the first one) and this is what we thought about the new and improved Cozy Crib Tent II:
The design is exactly the same as the Original one, but there is more material at the bottom of the tent to accommodate different sized mattresses. We had A LOT of extra material at the base that needed to be folded and ticked under the mattress, and we had a nice, thick mattress on the crib! The fitting on the back/upper portion of the crib was still ill-fitting. We have a convertible crib design that has a higher back (or headboard) than front (or footboard). This does not work for this product! The tent was pitched forward and the material was bunched on both the front and back sides because of this.
The materials themselves are the same as the Original. It s made from nylon and mesh. The design is pretty open and allows for lots of vision for the child inside as well as people/pets outside the crib. There are two pole that cross across the top of the tent (mush like a camping tent) that hold the tent upright and give it the tent look. These bars are very sturdy! As I said in my Original review, I dropped my 15 lb. cat on the very top to see what the product would do and it didn t even budge! My cat s nails poked through and came back out without and damage (to him or the tent!).
The zipper this was one of my biggest peeves about the Original model. And it s NO DIFFERENT on this model. Despite being told that it would be much better, it s not. I think the zipper pulls more easily than it did on the other model (partially because it fit differently) but it s still loud enough to wake the sleeping giant! I wonder if it fit better on another crib if this would be the same but can only speak for my experiences!
We didn t even use this product for more than a few times before we knew it had to go! What about my paranoia with the cats sleeping on my baby? We simply shut the door each time were went in/pit of the room. Since they never had entrance, they never looked for it, and it was not an issue. We later found that my son was very allergic to the cats and we adopted them out. We STILL keep the door closed when he s in there, though! If you're going to get this product, have an alternative plan in mind in case it doesn't fit or you also find it is too loud!
