Avoid the Total Gym 1700

I purchased both the Total Gym 1700 and Weider Total Body Works 5000. Full disclosure: I do not work or have family members and friends who work for either of these companies.

I agree with the reviews for the Total Body Works 5000. I won't repeat those reviews in this space. I encourage you to read the reviews for yourself. I agree with them that the Total Body Works 5000 is a better designed product that yields a better workout as compared to the Total Gym 1700 Club.

I disagree with the reviews for the Total Gym 1700. This piece of equipment is poorly designed. It fell apart after 6 months of daily use, 3 to 5 days per week. It is more expensive than the Total Body Works 5000, which has a far superior design at a fraction of the cost of the Total Gym 1700. The Total Gym 1700 will cost you about $300 compared to $99 $25 for shipping and handling for the Total Body Works 5000 (order direct from Weider). You are paying for movie stars advertisement, not quality of, the Total Gym 1700.

Bottomline: Both machines will help you achieve results. The Total Body Works 5000 is better designed and has more versatility as compared to the Total Gym 1700. Customer service is much better for the Total Body Works 5000. Customer service for the Total Gym is really bad. The representatives are sarcastic and must be trained to deter a customer's complaint with rude and unprofessional behavior. I threw away the Total Gym 1700 after it fell apart after 6 months(bench cracked and crumbled, cable system fell apart, handles fell off, etc.). I am still using the Total Body Works 5000. It is still in good condition.

If after this you still want to purchase the Total Gym 1700 (ill-advised), do NOT order it or anything else from TVBargains--the company has no integrity or credibility!
