Author's Review
I bought this model in part to play online video, like YouTube and news video, and for non-gaming programs like MS Office. So far it's fast and powerful enough for my needs. I love the weight and size, though the widescreen and keyboard layout took some getting used to. The fingerprint scanner provides convenient daily security.
It has no s-video port. I have not yet tested the battery life though on the automatic pop-up (when you move the cursor over the battery icon) shows a 2.5 hour life max.
Update - it does have a firewire port, which is called iLink IEEE 1394.
I had read in past reviews about problems (2 people) with reading and using the dvd/cd burner, so I was worried. But mine has worked fine so far. No problems at all when I played movies and burned a dvd.
I also had no problems uninstalling various minor pre-installed programs via the control panel/programs feature.
I bought this, after extensive research and reading various opinions and reviews, because of it offered me the best value for what I needed it for, and because my previous notebook pc was a well designed and reliable Toshiba Satellite model. E.g., it has wi-fi (a,g,n), bluetooth, and an sd card-reader.
I bought this from Buy.com and it arrived after 2 days in excellent condition with all parts. But I haven't tried using Toshiba's service yet.
