DVD/RW Breaks within 24hrs

The Bottom Line: I would purchase this if you are willing to gamble. I may have gotten a bad apple or this could be Toshiba's norm.
Less than 24 hours of owning the Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 the DVD/RW stopped working. It sounded like a car trying to kick start / grind it self into starting. Toshiba Tech Support was wonderful by saying that yep it was a hardware issue that needed to be taken in for service already or returned to the store. The left hand pad area heated up and was the main location for the bad sounds. The disc in the DVD/RW was also heated up.
I bought this product because of the 2GB of memory to run MS Office sufficiently with Vista home premium. Also, for the price range the retailer stated it was priced the best, the sturdiest, and one of the most reliable. The sturdiness, performance, and reliability were the main selling factors for me. So when the laptop broke within 24 hours I was extremely disappointed. Neither Toshiba nor Best Buy was willing to do anything to offset the inconvenience.
The graphics and screen were nice though. Playing Toshiba games were fun and pleasing to the eyes. There was minimum glare from the glossy screen. Vista and MS Office ran pretty smooth on the notebook. It did come with a trial version of MS Office 2007 preloaded as well as many other trial soft wares.
