Another great Toshiba VCR!

by   robinh052 ,  Oct 3, 2003
Pros: Light weight, compact, easy setup, and reasonably priced.
Cons: Short startup noise when inserting and ejecting video cassette.
The Bottom Line: Overall the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Even though the unit has a small irritable startup noise when inserting or ejecting a video cassette, the neat features make that insignificant.
Review: When my 12-year-old Toshiba M-651C VCR finally decided not to turn on one day, and after figuring it would probably cost more to repair the unit than to replace it, I began to search for a new one. My search ended when I noticed that my local Zellers reta ...

Yes, it's ONLY a VCR...

by   ex-military ,  Dec 5, 2002
Pros: Easy setup. Easy use. Great picture quality.
Cons: No "front button lock" (kid proof) option.
The Bottom Line: Entry level VCR with great image quality. Respectable price.
Review: We wore out our ten year old Sharp VCR and needed a quick replacement VCR to keep the kids quiet. We already owned a Toshiba 50H71 HDTV and we loved the quality of it and hoped the VCR would be the same. Well, we haven't been let down.

Set up...

A good VCR w/o many bells and whistles

by   jag02 ,  Aug 22, 2002
Pros: Menus easy to use, auto tracking, auto time set, price, 1 minute rewind
Cons: Remote is not universal. It only controls this VCR and only Toshiba televisions.
The Bottom Line: Good number of features for the price.
Review: I bought this VCR at Best Buy - I got an open-box special for $34.60. I lucked out because I went there expecting to buy it for the full $69.99 price. Even $70 is not bad for a 4 Head HI-Fi VCR.

I have it for 2 weeks and haven't really used...

You get what you pay for

by   work4crown ,  Jan 20, 2003
Pros: Good price and picture quality, fast rewind is awesome
Cons: audio signal too weak on SLP tapes
The Bottom Line: Give it a try and see if it did the same thing mine did. Nice product except for the sound thing. Fast rewind feature is really nice.
Review: This Toshiba unit was sitting right next to a SONY unit at Best Buys. It cost $20. less and had similar features. I bought it and it was easy to set up and played tapes back real well, except when I tried to play back SLP (the extended play tapes - you...
