Author's Review
This movie is wonderfully funny and emotionally evocative. The movie portrays several years in the life of a drag queen named Arnold, and his quest for love and acceptance.
I first saw Torch Song Trilogy on cable, and have since rented it several times and finally bought a copy. Each time I watch Torch Song Trilogy, I laugh so hard that my sides hurt, I cry, I sit on the edge of my seat cheering Arnold on.
The acting in the movie is superb, the plot line original and entertaining, and the message is universal. Okay, now you want to know what the message of the movie is, to me. Well, I saw it as "Everyone needs and deserves to be loved and accepted." Everyone, gay or straight, has experienced parental disapproval, or love gone bad, and Torch Song Trilogy manages to make a fabulous story out of these issues, with humor, style and incredible wit.
BTW, I am a straight 30-something married mother of 5, and this is my favorite movie of all time and has been for years.
