Author's Review
Ok, I've been around the block a few times and been in the virtual seat of almost every cyber race car out there. This game is a true racer!
The physics are completely unmatched by ANY other game I've seen. The cars feel like they have weight, inertia, and power. (or lack of power
in the beginning) Before I bought this title I was looking for suggestions for a great racer for the N64. Most people said RUSH was the best. Sheesh, RUSH was a HUGE pile o doodoo in my opinion. Rush had it's problems with unreal physics and buggy flashy graphics and lag.
Top gear rally has tracks that you can actually navigate at any speed you can get your car moving at. Keep in mind that you will still take it in the shorts if you attack a hairpin at 150mph.
The adjustable shocks on each car can make a difference on how your car
handles the track and each bump, so choose well.
Other choices include the type of steering and tire grip for each car. Don't ya just hate driving games that are hard to control depending on what you're used to and how you like to steer? Well, this one has 3 choices for the steering wheel feel and one should match what you like.
The fishtailing can be controlled by you and does not consider you out of control just because you slid a bit on that last turn.
Now we have my favorite part, the replays. After a race you get to see a replay of your last lap, so make sure it was a good one. The replays are so real with the physics that it seems you're watching ESPN sports. (except the guy behind the wheel must have been nuts to drive like that!)
Overall, there is nothing like this experience. WELL worth the money if you really like racing, and feeling like you're racing while doing it.
