My Son Imitates This Game (OUCH!!)

My son recieved this game for his birthday and since then has played this thing constantly. This game sparked him and my daughter to purchase skateboards. I sometimes play the game with him, but most of the time I just watch as my son and daughter play. Even my husband enjoys playing this one. It has some really excellent graphics. It's good enough that I get motion sick if I watch it too long. It seems very realistic.

Controlling the skateboarder is easy so anyone can play it. The skateboarder gets you points for being able to do various stunts. It give you higher points if the stunt is more difficult. This game makes skateboarding look like it's so easy. My kids found out the hard way that imitating the game in reality isn't as easy as the game makes it look.

The music in the game is good. There are also short movie clips of real skaters doing the stunts, and even some failed ones. That's where I get the ouch from. Some of these clips have some really nasty falls in them and you can almost feel the skaters pain.

The one downside in this game is that the skaters don't have helmets or any other protective gear on them, and to a younger kid, that could be a bad example. If your child should decide to imitate this game, remind them that these are professionals that the game is modeled after and that the images in there are the only thing that can fall constantly and hit their heads on pavement and not die. Make sure your kid understands that this is just a game and that protective gear is important to real people who skate.
