TomTom GO 720 Car GPS Receiver

This is a very cute device, but not as useful as I had hoped. I live in the NY/NJ metro area and I still have to carry directions because the maps are grossly out of date. I mean up to 5 years or more out of date! I purchased this in February, 2005. I called for pre-sales support and was told that maps were released in the summer of 2004 and that a new map update was due in March 2005 and that if I bought then I would get the update for free. Now when I call I am told there is no ETA on the map updates and that no promise to anyone was made to get it for free. Even the rebate is a hassle as I was asked to verify my address again by mail (still not received). Too bad that its too late to return it since I had to deface the box in order to send for a rebate.
