Author's Review
I purchased this in October 2007 and have mixed feelings. If feels live a very early version of a great product. There are snags, poor documentation, and incompatibility. But...
The good:
()complete maps - I have all of Europe on one device
()POI's very useful - banks, movies, shopping, gas
()FM transmitter great for MP3 use
()cool audio book section
()bluetooth HF - talk and drive
()bluetooth data - SMS? Texting while you drive!
The bad:
()crashes
()GPS varies (wanders)
()cant get the SD card to work for music (no SDHC)
()poor window clip
()expensive and limited selection of accessories
()Bluetooth HF doesnt seem to do a good job with noise reduction.
The bluetooth hands free is on both list I know... Think of it as love/hate relationship. Usable, an awesome implementation, just not quite there in terms of sound quality.
As an upgrade from the ONE its an amazing leap. There are so many more options, its tremendously more capable, and feels higher quality to the touch. If I had to make this purchase decision again I would not buy the 720 for a couple of months. The one I have is a much better unit, easy to operate. The ONE is a device with a clear purpose, something that is lacking on the GO720.
Searching the web for go720 and SD MP3 can give you an update if they have the SDHC problem resolved. Overall I'm disappointed with he current state of the product but hope it will get better in future versions.
