Its a terrific feeling that I will never be lost again.

The mount is not as good as I would have liked it. Its weak.

If you do not have one of these, and are like me, do yourself a favor and get one to get home every time you venture out of the house.

One day, after work, I ventured off the regular route to meet my son at his restaurant. Although I have been there many times, I made a wrong turn and got dreadfully lost. It took me a long time to find my way back home and I feared that one day I would be lost and never find my way back home. Thinking that I may lose my mind and never find my way back home, my husband, God love him, bought me a GPS to help me with this fear. I am not fooled by his generosity, as who would cook and clean for him if I were lost? Anyway, he did buy it for me, and I have been using it every day since Christmas to see how good it works.
What's in the box? One TomTom One XL, a car charger, a windshield mount, an adhesive disk for windshield mount, a documentation pack and a USB cable.
The installation in the car is simple, and takes no time at all. Unfortunately, the mount is not the best thing in the world. Sometimes you cannot get the Tomtom on track, and sometimes you cannot get it off the track. Once you get through that, you are on your way to testing your Tomtom, to see if it really works. It does!
On my first trip in the car, I connected the windshield mount, put the Tomtom on it, and then had to remove it so that I could connect the car charger to it. Since then, I make all connections before I put the Tomtom on the cradle.
Once all is connected, and you press the on button, the menu appears. It gives you options, "Navigate To, Find Alternative, Help Me, Add Favorites and Change Preferences." Also on the screen was the word "DONE" so when you are finished you hit that button. I hit the button Home and entered my address. Then I hit "Navigate To" and entered a shopping center and sped off to see what direction this would put me in. Of course, I did not follow it's directions, and watched as it fixed the directions to fit the way I was going. Its funny when the unit tells you to make a right, and you ignore it and go straight. It adjusts the directions in no time, and keeps correcting itself to get you to your destination.
You can also hook it up to your computer and get the latest directions, you can manage maps, voices, and much more. You can update your Tomtom with the latest software and services automatically. The website has tips and trips about your unit.
It is amazing that this little unit can help you find your way around the corner, down the block and off on a long distance excursion. My next project is to program all the Walmarts in my Tomtom. Now, I will not fear getting lost any longer. My Tomtom will see that I get to Walmart and back home again, before I lose my mind.
