Tombstone: Rock solid movie with a great cast

Tombstone gives us a sensationalized version of true events involving Wyatt Earp and the town of Tombstone.

When Wyatt gives up being a law officer he relocates to Tombstone with his wife, two brothers and their families. Their plan is to strike it rich with the big silver rush and retire very rich men. Sounds like a good plan but unfortunately fate has other plans.

Let me give you some of the cast in this movie. Wyatt Earp is played by Kurt Russel, his brothers are played by Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton. Doc Holliday is played famously by Val Kilmer. Other cast members include Michael Biehn, Powers Boothe, Jason Priestly, Billy Zane, a cameo by Charlton Heston and Billy Bob Thorton and many, many more known faces.

This is a classic western style movie with a star studded cast, fast paced action, gambling, gun slinging, duels, vendettas, the works. I'm only scraping the surface with this synopsis. There's no room to get bored during this movie it just keeps moving and building.

The town of Tombstone has fallen under the tyranny of the outlaw group known as The Cowboys. When they learn that Earp and his family are in town they do everything in their power to provoke the Earp boys. Its just a matter of time before the lawful Earps cannot turn their backs on injustice any longer. Push comes to shove and the confrontation at the OK coral heightens the plot to an all out war between the three brothers and their friend Doc Holliday against the entire Cowboy outfit.

I cannot say enough great things about this movie. All performances are top notch, particularly that of Val Kilmer as the charismatic and deadly Doc Holliday. The editing and execution of the OK coral scene is mind blowing. You have to see this movie. I'm not a fan of western movies at all and I can watch this one over and over again.
