Farm's earlier review provides comprehensive and accurate technical details; I only want to add my endorsement.

Before I bought this lens, I feared distortion would be bad, flare worse, and that it would be none too sharp. All my fears were unfounded; it is an excellent lens I do not hesitate to use for any assignment.

Modern design and manufacturing techniques really have been a great benefit here. Contrast sparkles, it feels good to use, and the results are superb. I just wish I could remember what I did with my stack of 77mm filters!

I often use wide angle lenses in low light situations and have always preferred the natural, unmanipulated look of available light. This little Tokina is not fast, and f/4.5 at 35mm sounds a little spooky after many years with f/1.5 and f/2.0 35mm lenses, but it hasn't hampered my use of the lens yet. The recent generations of fast film make up for a lot.
