Great amateur lens

by   nevets3 ,   May 13, 2002

Pros:  Inexpensive, great range, decent build

Cons:  No lens hood

The Bottom Line:  For the price, you can't beat this lens.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this lens from Adorama just before a trip to NYC with the idea that the wide range might come in handy here and there... well, it stayed on my camera for most of the trip and the results have been impressive!

I am only an amateur photographer, and I am sure that the optics in the Nikon version are better in comparison- but for the price, you just can't beat this one!

The construction is adequate- focus ring is easy to use in manual mode and zooming is smooth. The big front element makes this lens look a lot more expensive than it is. Even though I haven't had problems with flare, I am definitely going to have to get a hood for it- the lens is so wide that regular universal hoods won't work.

This lens is a pleasure to use and has already earned a permanent place in my camera bag!
